"God." I breathed out.
Something was shining in the clouds and as it gets nearer, it is striking my eyes. I cannot handle the intensity, so I hid in my garment. "Look up, Janice." the voice said. "Come, follow me."
I turned toward the voice and I was surprised. The looks on His face at the same time my spirit tells me to bow down, it was Him. It was Jesus.
"The light was very bright so, I hid myself. My eyes could be blinded if I stared." I reasoned out.
He smiled because He knew it all along. That smile was the most beautiful smile I did see. I did not even think of anything after that but to run to Him. To run to my Saviour, my Lord, and my God. I pressed towards His loving arms as I feel the love the Father offered me when Jesus was on the cross. I could never imagine at last, I am now at peace.
"How are you?" Jesus asked me.
"I was very confused at my death. At first, I really don't know why I have to die but seeing You makes me want to stay here." I replied, not looking at Him directly.
"My Father wants to show you something." He pointed out a place from a far. "Will you come?"
Of course, I said yes.
Jesus and I stepped into a portal like way. The surroundings changed instantly from a cloudy place to a place where I can see the country side.
Sea Ranch California, it is.
I knew it already when I saw the small but beautiful wood house. I can clearly see the seaside view from here. The cool breeze reminded me of another time.
"Ahhh!" a kid tripped while running to the house. I was about to help him but an old woman ran after him.
"Hey, Ooi! I warned you to be careful in this rocky area, right?" the old woman wiped his scraped knee with the hem of her dress as he cried out loud.
"It hurts. It hurts." The kid shouted louder. Soon after, an old man came running with a first aid kit. "Pops is here now! Don't cry." the old man cleaned the wound with a clean cloth and applied an ointment. He covered the wound with a cute teddy bear bandage as the old man and woman kissed his knee. "Do you feel better now, Ooi?" the old woman asked. "Yes, mum! Thanks!" the boy replied as he ran again. "What? Hey! Run a bit slower, can you?" his mum exclaimed. "It's okay, dear. Let him be like a child." the old man smirked.
It was great seeing them happy, but I am wondering about who the boy is. So, I ran to him amd asked him. "Hi, I'm Janice. What's your name?" I extended my hand. He did not hear me. He ran away. I followed him and asked him again, but this time, I said it louder. He did not hear me. Why?
The little boy hurried back home as he carried his collected stones. I followed him to the house as I see them eat together for lunch. "What a moment! I hope I could eat with my family one last time." I am now in a nostalgic state. I remember dad's funny jokes, mom's cool stories, and the taste of the delicious food at the diner.
"Pops, do you still have left over paint?" Ooi brought up a question suddenly. "No, I'm sorry I have used them all up in painting the porch stairs." Pops apologized. "It's okay, pops. I'll ask for Mrs. June then." "Are you not afraid of her pets, Ooi?" his mum asked. "No mum. I love them!" Ooi grinned.
I smiled as I notice the black and white pictures on the wall. They look so beautiful. His pops looked like he was a seaman or a navy of some sort. His mum, was as pretty as the vintage women I see on old movie throwbacks. You know, the hairstyles short and curly. I think I remember that hairstyle, oh! The bouffant style. That hair looks very good.
I continued to gaze at the pictures as I hear a familiar song. It is coming from a big cd rotating beside a trumpet. Wait! I have seen this thing before. It does not look I am in my time.
"Can you play my favorite next, please dear?" mum pleaded.
"I'll finish my song first in the turntable first, dear." Pops insisted.
"Can you sing pops?" Ooi asked. "You always listen to Elvis but we never heard you sing."
"If you wish." Pops faced the mirror and pulled his hair back. "Get ready for it!"
I laughed with them.
"Wise men say
Only fools rush in
But I can't help falling in love with you
Shall I stay?
Would it be a sin
If I can't help falling in love with you?" Pops pouted his lips as we clapped for his great performance.
This is really not my time. I can now clearly see the difference.
As I follow Pops and Ooi to go out of the door, I was shocked to enter into the bright light. I see myself transported to another place. Where could I be?
Observing, I am in a school.
