The music blared aloud from the speakers, it's noise deafening! Yet the beats kept coming and the plastic cups kept being refilled. Crowds of young adults were jumping up and down, out of rhythm, without a care in the world. People were screaming at the top of their lungs; each voice wanting to be heard over the rest - begging for attention. Most of the words they were singing weren't even the lyrics to the song, just a load of drunkenly swung words put together for effect. No one bothered to notice as no one was listening over the pumping of the set list that night. Each party goer was too enveloped in themselves, lost in the fun and tipsy laughs.
Away from it all was two young adults, barely eighteen, huddled towards the back. One was a boy with curly black raven hair, white confetti hung in the dark strands showing signs of late night parting towards the front of crowd. His auburn eyes alert with angst; contrasting to his drooping eye bags and freckled face taught with strain and weariness. He stared past the rim of his red plastic cup, wishing for the fiftieth time that night, that his cup would magically refill. Just so he wouldn't have to shove himself through the sea of people to get to the drinks station. Ty had had enough, it was midnight and he was more than ready for the concert to be over.
To his left stood a young woman with long flowing blonde hair, a silvery aura seemed to radiate from her, as the moonlight shimmered down. The young woman seemed to grow in frustration by the minute, her brow creased. Cassie wanted nothing more than to surf the crowd. Dive into the hustle and bustle, not stood away from it all because Ty her (best friend since childhood) wants to go home because it's getting late. Or so he says.
The young man was the first to speak "Cassie, Cory (New character you will meet soon) should be here any second, but this is seriously the last time you drag me to one of your stupid concerts. You know how uneasy I get in public places."
Realising the harshness of his words Ty's mouth drew into a line regretting his bitter tone - after all Cassie was last person he'd want to hurt on this earth. It felt like hours whereas in reality was only a few seconds before Cassie replied. He dug his nails into his sweaty palms. His jaw ached as he hoped the young woman wouldn't notice him staring longingly at her jugular artery.
Cassie finally spoke up, her lips pursed as if she was about to say something different, "What is up with you tonight? You look as if I've taken you to hell. Why are you so apprehensive? These people aren't going to kill you, Ty, they're more likely to take a swing at each other first-" for a brief moment she stared into the auburn eyed boy looking for signs to continue, she saw no resistance and went on, " and why do you keep staring at my neck, are you a vampire or something?"
The young woman was joking, she didn't actually believe what she just said, she was just trying to lighten the mood. Yet Ty stared at Cassie with eyes glazed over in shock, he looked as if all the air had been sucked out of his lungs.....
