Recap: When I regained consciousness the first thing I heard was Ty shouting my name as loud as he could, "Cory! Cory! Cory wake up right now! Cory!" Frantically my eyes open in alert. Instantly I saw why Ty was so worried. I must've napped for too long. We were about to head first collide with a lorry. Upon instinct I swerved around it barely avoiding it by the skin of my teeth. The car must've overtaken too fast, that the wheels gave way and we found ourselves spinning 360 degrees continuously. It felt as if I was about to puke out my insides. My vision was blurred by an array of colours. More frequently the colours green and brown were appearing. We were probably heading for a forest. There was nothing I could do - whack! Then everything when black!

Tyler POV

I was too shy to sign up for music summer camp, but Cassie signed me up for it instead. She said I needed a confidence boost and that this would be an opportunity to come out of my shell. Honestly, I was dreading it. My passion was music and yes I was a Grade 6 guitarist, but I never played to many people. Only the couple of those who came to watch my bands' shows at school. Cassie and Cory always were my biggest fans, they always push me to be the best musician I can be. I mainly preferred to watch other musicians since they inspire me to write my own songs.

14th of July

Dear diary,

I've been settled in for a month now and it's better than I expected. The workshops are really helpful. We get tips on song writing, vocal lessons and have opportunities to try out new instruments. It's way more fun than I expected though I'd never admit that to Cory. Writing of things I'd never admit, I need to get something off of my chest. One of the reasons why I'm loving summer camps so much is because I've met someone.

Long before the start of summer I've been crushing on my best friend Cassie, but she'd never go for me. I'm not her type. She loves flings and short dalliances. Cassie prefers guys who are more outgoing and adventurous which I'm certainly not!

This new person I've met is called Rachel. We met in the woodwind instruments workshop. She's witty and funny and very beautiful. Rachel is a natural redhead, with a freckled face and fair pale skin as if she's inhuman. The first time we kissed I felt a spark against her ice cold lips.  Rachel is my snow queen and she makes me forget anything I felt for Cassie. I can barely remember Cassie's appearance which is strange. I've got to go, Rachel is calling and she gets very impatient waiting for me.

Night, Tyler.

15th of July

Dear diary,

I don't know where I am, it's almost pitch-black and there's only a dim light to write in. I hear the odd dripping of water further down into the shadows, its location obscured by blackness. My neck throbs; I can feel two deep, throbbing puncture holes in my neck and a dried stream of blood completely covering my jacket. A peculiar metallic taste filled my mouth, is it blood?

My heart is beating a 1000x faster than normal, my blood pressure must be through the roof. I'm terrified more so than I ever have been my entire life. It's scarier than the school bully trying to lob his Monday lunch at your head.

Last night is mainly a blur, I'm gradually getting fragments of it back though. I remember Rachel inviting me over to her cabin, flashing me a Cheshire cat smile and flicking her strawberry coloured hair onto her shoulder. Beads of sweat trickle down my forehead as I try to remember what got me into this mess.

A flicker of a memory appears, we were kissing it was intense and slowly leading into something more. As I gently lent her small frame onto the bed I begin to kiss her from the nape of her neck to her shoulder. My lips never once leaving her frozen skin and pale complexion. Just as I was about to reconnect our lips, black petrifying veins appeared under her now desolate and charcoal eyes. I was prey and she was my predator and my huntress. She had me exactly where she wanted me. My muscles turned to liquid and I was lost in the voids of her eyes. Gigantic canine teeth poked out of her mouth and leeched themselves to my exposed neck. I felt the blood drain out of my body, for some reason unknown I could feel her pleasure as she was immersed in the game of it all. In the brief connection of the blood let I could feel her telepathically sending me calming vibes, supernaturally relaxing me.

What happened next I don't know, I must've passed out. It shook me to the core – vampires were real? What else was? I knew perfectly well that all I would ever be to Rachel was a human blood bag. I abstained the idea. Yet there was nothing that could be done about it, but was I even human? Am I dead? I did feel different, it's probably because I'm having a nightmare or am just plainly insane. Oh I do hope I'm dreaming!

I've got to go I can't let her see I'm writing on the scrap piece of paper in my jacket pocket. Oh no she's seen it. She looks mad. Rachel is super speeding towards me at a tremendous pace and a slick ease like she enjoyed my horror and fright_________________________________

15th of August

Dear Diary,

What happened the night of the 14th of July forever has changed me. Rachel tore away my piece of paper, shredding it into confetti and ripping it as if it was as light as air. Surging towards me she inspected my neck like it was her next meal. She studied me like a test subject in a biology lab. After some time she spoke, "I suppose you can already guess what I am, but I'll tell you anyway. I'm a vampire. I can read your mind and it's exploding with questions. You're curious, you want to know if I've turned you. The answer is yes I did. You get turned by a vampire's blood in your system hence the metallic taste in your mouth and by dying-"

"Wait there's more of you? And I'm dead? You killed me?" I said, unsettled by Rachel's words. "Yes and there's so much for you to learn little fledgling. Have you felt the burning hunger yet? Well you will! Mark my words! Now as I was saying I snapped your neck but you have to feed to complete the transition." "What did I ever do to you? Why did you want to turn me?" I snapped back with venomous fury. Rachel replied, "Because I was bored and it wouldn't hurt to have a companion. Vampirism can be lonely and full of solitude." "You're a monster! You deserve to rot in hell! I'd die before I drink human blood like you do. Can't you eat normally?" I replied. "I'm already in hell little one and you will embrace your true nature in time. To answer your question, yes we do need human blood to survive. Without it we'd starve and rot from the inside out over time. You can have animal blood, but that doesn't sustain you for as long as human blood nor keep you as strong. Now I'm tired of your irritating questions, let's go.  You need to feed else you'll die!" Rachel answered. "I'd rather die than feed. You're a psychopath and crazy if you'd think I'd go anywhere with you." I spat back. "You come with me or I'll slaughter your entire family in front of you before I use a wooden stake and plunge it through your heart." Rachel threatened.

As she was talking I noticed a thin stream of light coming from a crack in the top of the cave. In a mix of pure desperation, panic and adrenaline I vamp speeded away from Rachel's grasp and using my new found super human strength, I threw a large boulder next to me at the crack, with as much force as I could manage. The cave came crumbling down onto Rachel. Even if she wasn't dead by the heavy blows of the rocks, to use her own words against her she would starve and rot from the inside out over time. I had to put an end to her, what she did to me was unforgivable, but threatening to brutally murder my entire family is diabolical! I fled into the night ravishingly hungry and ashamed of what I had become.

Night, Tyler.
