Cassie POV

I don't know how, but I could sense something was off with Ty in my bones he just seemed so different lately. I can't quite put my finger on it. It all started since he got back last summer, he hide himself away a lot more. Claimed he was studying and hung out less with me and Cory in between college breaks. I decided to focus on the positives rather than the what if's. It's far too late to come up with theories for Ty's erratic behaviour. Besides I'm way too tired to concentrate.

Cory pulled up the drive to my house. The lights are out, everyone must be asleep. Especially my little brother Patrick, he just turned 10, and it's way past his bedtime at quarter to 1am in the morning. I can't help but yawn. The caffeine and the alcohol are starting to wear off. No doubt I used all my energy into singing to the radio in Cory's car. The whole time Ty stiffly sat in the back next to me, looking out the window. I suppose he's desperate to get home. He always used to love going to concerts with me, but now he can't stand them and I'm not sure why. Maybe tomorrow he'll tell me what was up with him. Cory kept making me laugh the whole journey. He always knows how to put humour into any situation. I swear I never used to laugh as much till I met Cory.

I realise I must have been daydreaming when Cory taps on my shoulder. As like a modern day gentleman he opened my car door for me. Ty is leaning on the boot of the car, he looked like a sore thumb sticking out. I really do need to talk to him soon. Me and Cory walk side by side to my snow white painted front door number 54 on Meadow Close.

Whilst Ty lingers a little behind us. I say to Cory, "Thanks for the ride, you're a life saver!"

He replies, "You bet princess, since when wouldn't I help a damsel in distress." He gave me his signature smirk and surprisingly kissed me on the cheek. I let him and blushed which was new. I never usually did- I'll dwell on that later. When Cory's lips brushed my cheek, in Ty's eyes I saw sorrow and regret.

I said my final goodbye to Cory before he left, " I'll see you tomorrow, ok?"

Cory said, "Wouldn't miss it for the world buttercup." Honestly Cory and his nicknames for me. I always thought they were good humour and passed them off as good banter. Yet now I found myself wondering could it mean something more?

Cory strolled down back to his car and just as Ty went to follow him I said, "Hold on would you Ty?"

He shrugged not even making full eye contact with me.

So I carried on talking, "Is everything between us fine Ty? Are you mad at me for something?"

He vigorously shook his head like he used to when we were younger - when he completely disagreed with something.

Ty spoke, "I'm not mad at you. We're fine." He grimaced like he was in pain. I didn't press any further, Ty would talk when he's ready. He gave me a small wave and headed back in the car. I fumbled around in the dim porch white light and got my keys out of my denim jean pockets. Shoved them into the keyhole and went in.

Cory POV

It was getting late, I was beyond tired. I could hardly open my eyes. Sleep was calling me; beckoning me with a finger cloaked of darkness. In an attempt to keep my eyes open, I gripped the steering wheel as tight as I could in my weary state of mind. I couldn't keep it together any longer. All of a sudden I was swept in a tsunami of tiredness. Dark rings consumed my vision. Before I knew it I was taking a nap, my head drooped for what felt like a few seconds.

When I regained consciousness the first thing I heard was Ty shouting my name as loud as he could, "Cory! Cory! Cory wake up right now! Cory!"

Frantically my eyes open in alert. Instantly I saw why Ty was so worried. I must've napped for too long. We were about to head first collide with a lorry. Upon instinct I swerved around it barely avoiding it by the skin of my teeth. The car must've overtaken too fast, that the wheels gave way and we found ourselves spinning 360 degrees continuously. It felt as if I was about to puke out my insides. My vision was blurred by an array of colours. More frequently the colours green and brown were appearing. We were probably heading for a forest. There was nothing I could do - whack! Then everything when black!
