Cassie POV
I told the doctors the same cover story Ty had said to me. I could've told the truth, that Cory had been in a serious car crash, but it would ask too many questions. Like how his injuries weren't more severe? Why wasn't an ambulance called?
I put my trust in Ty, that he was telling the truth- that his blood really could heal Cory. I'd been waiting hours to hear news about Cory's condition. They said they'd check his vitamin levels, look for any fractures or broken brones and take him for an MRI scan to see if the "fall" Cory had taken had given him any permanent brain damage. They said it would only take an hour or two. Yet it's been 4 hours. I've never been so anxious. There's little left of my finger nails now, I've chewed them so much. Other than Cory's dad, me and Ty are all Cory has left. My toes can't stop tapping the floor in anticipation.
I'm fed up of waiting, so I head to the reception desk of the ward. Sat in the chair was a woman who was only in her early fifties. Her dark brunette hair showed streaks of grey and when I strolled up to the desk she pushed her sky blue glasses up her nose. Her piercing hazel eyes never looked up from the monitor. Nor did her long, plump fingers ever stop thumping the keys on the keyboard.
"Excuse me, I'm the girl that brought in Cory Adams. I was wondering if there was any news on Cory's condition?" I asked.
The woman licked her chapped lips before finally replying, "I'll send Dr Finch to update you on the patients injuries. Take a seat and wait here. The doctor will soon be with you."
It was 30 minutes before a woman with eccentric ginger hair, dressed in a long white coat wrapped around her slim figure, came towards me. She looked exhausted and gave me a concerned frown. That musn't be good, it felt like the ground had just swallowed me whole.
                              "What's wrong?" I ask nervously.
"Well the good news is that we managed to get Cory in a stable condition. He has good vitamin levels, no broken bones or fractures and the MRI scan came out okay, but the bad news is that he's not waking up. He seems to be in a coma. I'm so sorry."
My heart dropped the second Dr Finch told me he's not waking up and that he's in a coma. Ty told me that his blood would heal Cory. Did he lie?....
