Chapter 2: The aftermath

Recap: "And why do you keep staring at my neck. Are you a vampire or something?" The young woman was joking she didn't actually believe what she just said, she was just trying to lighten the mood. Yet Ty stared at Cassie with eyes glazed over in shock and he looked as if all of the air had been sucked out of his lungs...

Ty raked his hands through his hair in disbelief and rubbed 3 of his fingers on the bridge of his nose just thinking. At last he broke the eerie tension in the air, "Cassie look there's something I've been meaning to tell you-I-well here I go I-" and just about as Ty was going to tell Cassie the truth he'd been holding in for so long Cory pulled up in his black toyota. He revved his engine, the sheer roar of it could be heard over the distant blasts of music coming from the stadium, as they stood on the outskirts. Cassie firmly gripped Ty's arm, her eyes searching his face like a tourist looking at a map searching for answers. She nodded her head wanting Ty to continue his sentence, her blonde waves dancing in the little light given off of the street lamp. Despite this Ty looked like a rabbit caught in headlights; he felt like his tongue was frozen and that he'd lost the ability to speak in that brief moment. Cassie spoke up, "You were saying you wanted to tell me something, Ty. Your kind of scaring me is everything ok?" Ty wanted to tell Cassie everything, but with Cory lingering less than 2 feet away spilling a secret he'd kept since last summer didn't seem like a good idea. So he replied, "Yeah everything is ok, you know what it's not even important anymore." Cassie was about to counter, but Cory pressed the car horn obviously growing more impatient.

Cory POV (Don't know if I'm gonna stick 2 POV, but for the moment I need them for this chapter. Comment below if you like this style or want me to go back to 3rd person perspective or not😉)

I don't know what's up with Tyler, (His nickname is Ty btw), he looks as if he's seen a ghost. His skin has been looking paler lately probably because he's a hermit and likes to blast music in his headphones in the safety of his room, but I'm actually concerned what if he's seriously ill?

I'd been waiting for 5 minutes now Cassie and Tyler seemed to be in deep discussion. I could always tell when Cassie is worried when she wrinkles her brow and when she's concentrating she fiddles with her fingers. It's adorable really, you begin to pick up little habits of people the more you get to know them. I've known Cassie and Tyler since the start of secondary school. Now we've finished college we're all heading to different universities I'm going to Acadia to do a sports degree. We all decided after college to take a gap year to figure stuff out. It's sad that we'll all be attending different universities, as in secondary school we were always the 3 musketeers and stuck together like glue. We all went to different colleges, but at least they were in 30 minutes of each other. This year is our last hurrah before everything changes. When we're all separated. I wonder how we're going to survive. It makes me laugh when I think of what the teachers say about us all being joined at the hip.

Most of the time we're all super close, but honestly sometimes I feel like an outsider/The odd one out. You see I haven't known Cassie and Tyler as long as they've known each other. They practically grew up on the same household. Both their parents were super close. If only mine were both still here. My mum passed away when I was 5 and my dad-well my dad used to be a day drunk, he's been clean now for 8 years. He only started drinking back when mum passed away, but when i was 10 he sobered up. Got a job working as a supermarket manager. He worked day and night shifts just so i could go to college. He worked so hard for me to get a good education and I will forever be grateful to my dad for that. Due to college fees we live in a trailer park. It's not as bad as you might think. We get clean water, cheap rent, good heating + electricity plus my dad can afford to put food and drink on the table. We even have enough money to go on 1 or 2 weekend camping trips over the year.

Suddenly I'm pulled out of my thoughts by Cassie touching Tyler's arm affectionately, they seem to stare into each other's eyes for seconds for them, but hours for me. It's torture for me to watch, I don't know what took over me, but I couldn't bear to watch Tyler kiss Cassie. I wish she looked at me like that, though to her I'd probably always be the rebellious older brother type and nothing more. I slammed my hand on the car horn. It-had-to-stop!! They look surprised: like were taken out of a trance and stare at the windscreen of my car. As if they forgot I was even here - typical them. I must have had a thunderous scowl on my face because Cassie gave me a look which seemed to express why do you look so mad. Well she can keep wondering that- I think. Tyler slams the door behind him and slides next to Cassie.

So I'm left all alone at the front. To break the silence I ask Cassie, "How was the concert?".

Just as Cassie was about to say something Tyler cut in, "I hated it - too many people makes me nervous. Cassie loved it though."

Once I heard Tyler say he didn't enjoy the concert I smirked, Cassie frowned at me in the wing mirror. Oops she must've seen my smile at Tyler's displeasure. The rest of the ride home I cranked the radio up. Cassie sung along to the songs- she had an angelic voice, I loved to hear it. Tyler kept feverishly glancing out the window. I thought - Cat got your tongue mate. Good that means I can listen to more of Cassie's voice uninterrupted. Quickly I was being hit with waves of guilt why was I thinking such malicious thoughts about Tyler. He's one of my best friends. Was I jealous?...

#OMG this chapter is so long, over 1000 words, but it needed to be to introduce a new character, give a bit of background info of the characters and stir up drama 😆. Please comment and like it if you are enjoying my story so far. Out of curiosity what are your guys fav films? Suggestions??#
