The rest of the day went by and there was still no news about the flight or my husband. Kurt stayed late, until Blaine called with the news that Audrey had gotten a 100 degree fever so he had to go home. It was around 2:00am when he left so I checked on Allen by peeking into the nursery and washed my face and went into my bedroom. It was empty. I put my favorite shirt on. It was a giant Beetles t-shirt Finn was wearing the day I gave birth to Allen. I got in bed and laid on my side. The bed was too big for just me, I thought. I needed Finn here because the bed felt lopsided. I scooted around to make myself more comfortable and eventually found myself lying on his side, over his pillow. I was tired, I could tell, but I couldn't sleep. I lied there replaying what the news and the lady at the airline said. "How could they not have answers," I asked myself. "I can't be the only one concerned about a loved one on this plane." I kept thinking about all the worst possibilities. The next time I looked at my clock, it was already 5:00am. Allen started screaming. I got up and went into the nursery. I brought him to my room and soothed him When he fell asleep, I lied him down in between two pillow, that I set up like walls so he was safe, on my side of the bed. I lied down on Finn's side and rubbed Allen's back. "It'll be okay, little guy. You're daddy is gonna be okay. I promise. He promised."
