You take in every feature on his face before meeting his eyes, now red and puffy. He lightly takes your hair and pushes it behind your ear. His hand stays at your cheek and you see a tear fall from his eye. He tries to smile, but it only makes everyhting hurt more. You sit and stare at eachother for a long time, trying to make these moments last forever. He drops his head and buries it in his hands, his body now shaking. "Please," he says through the tears "Stay with me." You softly shake your head. Carlos stands up with his hands to his eyes. He walks over to the table and smashes everything he can find before collapsing on the ground. You walk over and hold him as he lays there.
"You don't have to go, you can stay here. It doesn't have to be like this. Please don't leave-"
"Carlos," you say "I'm so sorry".
He shakes his head and stands up. He comes to you and hugs you for a long time. You bury your head in his shirt as you try to take in his scent one last time.
"I have to do this for you" you say "It has to be done."
He takes your hand and lightly kisses it.
"You will always be my princess" he says. You look in to his eyes and see more tears fall.
"Always". As you walk out the broken room you turn to look at him one last time, before walking away- forever. It was a beautiful goodbye but it hurt.
