"N-Nnng... What the...? Where am I?"
I woke up, my head on a hardwood desk. I held my head and rubbed my eyes to rid the feeling of fatigue. I felt tired, I didn't want to get up. I just wanted to sleep forever. But, I can't. I have to figure out what's going on here. That should be my first priority. I may be reckless, but I'd like to at least know what I've gotten myself into.
I stood up from the desk and stumbled a bit before regaining my balance. I examined the room. It seems to be a classroom. Seems normal enough. Except for a few things.
"Huh?"
I noticed something on the desk I apparently fell asleep on. I picked it up and scowled at how unprofessional it looked. This was Hope's Peak Academy for god's sake! That's disappointing.
It's an orientation guide. A really cheap-looking pamphlet with terrible writing.
The next semester is about to start. Starting today, this school will be your entire world.
"The hell? Is this some kind of joke?"
The words on the pamphlet didn't sit right with me. But I let it slide for now. There are more important things to focus on.
I looked around a bit more and saw a TV. Well, this *is* a government-funded school.
I looked around again and saw where windows should've been placed. Instead, there were big metal plates bolted tightly. I walked toward them and knocked on one of them. Yup, definitely metal. The feeling keeps growing bigger and bigger. Why won't it go away?
The next thing that caught my attention was a surveillance camera. Wait what? I mean, security is required in order to have a safe and friendly environment. But I think that's a bit much. I see no reason for one to be built in a classroom in the first place. But then again, this *is* my first time being here. And I always look for an excuse to put myself in some kind of danger, big or small. How can I do that if there's security all over the place?
The last thing I checked was the clock above the blackboard. It's a few minutes before 8. Wow, I must've been been unconscious for a while if nearly an hour passed.
"Let's try to make sense of what just happened."
Maybe I passed out in the main hall and was carried here. Right? That sounds reasonable enough. But the strange thing is, it didn't sound right at all. Something's wrong, but I just don't know what. All I know is that my gut is *never* wrong.
I decided to go back out into the main hall before the meeting time. I walked outside the classroom. When I did, I shivered. It wasn't cold or anything. Okay, if I wasn't so sure before, now I *know* something's wrong.
I headed toward the main hall in a hurry, not questioning why. The feeling grew as I looked at my surroundings. When I arrived, there were others already waiting.
"Another new kid!"
"Hey there!"
"...So you guys are--?"
"Yup. We're new here. This is our first day."
"That makes fifteen counting her. Looks like a good cut-off point. But is this everyone?"
A few minutes of waiting after, a normal looking boy walked through the doors with a look that suggested he was confused. Well, who *wouldn't* be?
"Huh? Are you students here too?"
"Yup! Got that right!"
This looks like everyone. Now to assess each individual. There are sixteen "Ultimate Students" including myself. Feels like they've got their own thing going on here. Except for the normal looking boy. I can barely feel his presence at all.
"Um... how's it going? My name's Makoto Naegi. Sorry I'm late. A bunch of stuff happened, and then all of a sudden I was just... asleep."
"Whoa, you too?"
"Things just keep getting curiouser and curiouser..."
"So strange... I declare beyond a shadow of a doubt that this is a strange situation indeed!"
"Um... what are you talking about? I honestly have no idea what's going on right now," Makoto stated.
"Wait a minute! There's something we must address!" a boy in all white pointed a finger at the poor boy.
"Makoto! Your tardiness is unacceptable! Surely you were aware the meeting was to start at 8 a.m. sharp! To be late on your first day is unspeakable! I must report you, and you must accept your due punishment!"
This guy was starting to piss me off. So I decided to do something about it.
"Hey buddy. It's not like he *wanted* to be late. Just piss off already."
He was taken aback by my response. He hesitated before deciding to remain silent. Good choice. Then a girl with cheery attitude spoke.
Ugh.
"Everyone just calm down! Listen, why don't we all go around and introduce ourselves?"
"The hell?! Now's no time for friggin' introductions!"
I don't like the guy with the weird hair. He's vulgar, which I like. But his attitude just makes me want to punch him in the face.
"Maybe, but it may be good to at least find out who we all are before digging into the bigger problems here."
Goth lolita girl. She's smart, but also deceptive. Things might get interesting with her around. You never know.
"I mean, how are we even supposed to talk to each other if we do not know each other's names?"
"That's a good point..." a petite looking girl agreed.
Hmm, something about her doesn't seem quite right to me. It's not necessarily a bad thing. She looks a little off to me, that's all. Oh well, I can always figure it out later.
"Okay, so let's get introductions out of the way, then we can move on to whatever else. Sound good?" a girl with a sailor style uniform suggested.
That's it. I officially don't like her. She gives off a bad vibe. Plus, she looks *really* creepy.
Might as well get to know them to the best of my ability. Jeez, it's going to be a pain introducing myself over and over. And I have to do it *fifteen* times! No use complaining now. Let's do this!
