"You're both late! We've all been waiting for you!"

Thanks for pointing out the obvious, jackass.

"Hmph. I bet y-you were afraid you would be discovered as th-the murderer you are..."

"Let's not jump to conclusions just yet! Save that for the class trial! There we can all reveal the details of Makoto's crime!"

Taka's eyes glanced at both of us, "Are you two linking arms!? That is very unwholesome!"

"I bet they already did i-it like the horny t-teenagers they are..."

Hifumi gasped, "EGAD! Not only did Mr. Naegi kill Miss Maizono, but he also did things to Miss Akiara! You filthy scum!"

Hiro waved them off, "Jeez, relax dude. He's probably enjoying his last few moments before he gets ex--"

"Shut it."

"Lore?"

I gripped his arm and pulled him closer to me as if everyone would pounce on him.

"We'll find out if Makoto really did it or not. Save the accusations for the class trial."

I looked back at him and smiled. He smiled right back.

I felt a strong gaze our way and Makoto held my arm tighter. He shivered right beside me. I looked around but no one was looking our way.

The monitor turned on.

"Puhuhu... Is everyone here? Okay then... Please board the elevator in front of you, which will transport you to the courtroom... where all your fates will be decided. Puhu. I'll meet you all down there. I'll be waiting..."

Everyone stepped onto the elevator. It was just me, Makoto, and Kyoko. Obviously not letting go any time soon, we both walked toward the elevator. But she stopped us.

"Are you scared?"

"N-No, scared isn't quite right..."

"I said it before, but it's up to you to uncover the mysteries surrounding this case yourself. If you don't, you'll never come to grips with the truth. You agree, don't you Lore?"

I knew what she was talking about. She must've figured it out too, then.

I nodded before giving the smallest hint of a smile. Then she stepped onto the elevator. It was just the two of us.

"You ready?"

I felt him tighten his grip on my arm.

"Yeah."

We stepped onto the elevator. The doors closed and we went down. A few seconds had passed and Makoto commented, probably hoping to lighten up the mood at least a little.

"I wonder if this is how a death row inmate feels when his time finally comes..."

Celeste added, "Rather than that, is it not more like a defendant waiting to receive his judgment?"

The small talk ended there. At that point, nobody else bothered trying to start up a conversation.

It was just silence.

The only sound there was was the elevator going further down until we arrived. I looked around the courtroom, and I couldn't help but cringe at it.

Monokuma has really bad taste.

"Nyohoho! You've finally arrived! What do you think? Doesn't it feel just like a real courtroom? It's a Hollywood movie set, right?!"

"Not even close. It's total shit," Mondo commented.

He said it way better than I could have. Good job, Mondo.

"Okay, okay, everyone find your assigned seats and sit down! Hurry up now, hurry up!"

We reluctantly did as we were told and took our seats. I took a look at the seating arrangements.

Wait a minute...

I backed far away from my seat, "Are you kidding me?! I have to stand next to *this* guy?! Can I trade places with someone?"

"You don't like the seating arrangements? I thought you and Byakuya needed a little push in the right direction!"

"For once, I agree with the she-devil," Byakuya grunted.

"I'm flattered," I seethed.

"Oh my! This isn't turning out as well as I hoped it would! Well, too bad! I'll make it work!"

"What the hell are you talking about?!"

I groaned, knowing that I won't get anything out of the damn bear. I begrudgingly took my place next to *him*. The seats were arranged in a giant circle, so it'd be easy to spot each other's uneasiness and pass it on.

The first trial is about to begin.

Sayaka Maizono, the Ultimate Pop Sensation...

She was trapped in this hellhole and was forced to participate in this twisted game just like the rest of us...

We have to find the culprit...

In order to live, we have to find the truth!

A/N: If you haven't noticed already, I'm going to do the class trial opening from Danganronpa V3. The first one was pretty lame and repetitive so I decided to change that.

P.S. Sorry this chapter wasn't the usual 1,000 words or more. I didn't want to add too much because the class trial will happen in the next part. That's where things are gonna go down!
