Sohyun was in the restaurant sitting at a table next to the wall. It was early in the morning and the restaurant was still closed. Sohyun sat hunched over with her chin in the palm of her hand, her eyes barely opened. Next to her was a cup of coffee that still had steam leaving from it.“I guess the coffee isn’t helping.”
Sohyun’s eyes shot open from the sudden deep voice that filled the room. She looked up to see Taehyung chuckling, his blue clear crystal eyes hidden as they turned into crescents, the corner of his eyes wrinkling slightly. The features of his face made a smile grown on Sohyun’s exhausted one.
“I guess not. I’m not used to staying up so late. I’m pretty drained from yesterday and only got four hours of sleep,” Sohyun said.
“You’ll get used to it eventually,” Taehyung said as he slid into the seat across from Sohyun.
Sohyun propped both her elbows on the table and held her head up with both of her hands, causing her cheeks to squish up into her face. “Really? How did you get used to it?”
“Not having a normal sleep pattern is always going to affect you and your body but you’ll adjust it. Your schedule won’t always be wonky like this,” Taehyung said. “I’ve been doing it for five years, so I eventually got acclimated to it. I also sleep during my shifts sometimes.” Sohyun let out a soft chuckle, making Taehyung smile. “Tell me, how did a girl like you end up in jail?”
Sohyun’s smile immediately vanished as she moved her limbs off the table and sat back in her seat, eyeing Taehyung intensely. “There’s a lot of innocent looking people in this world that do unbelievable things. Wicked things.”
Taehyung got the sense of the change of aura. What was once calm and chill was now alert and tense with a lingering of unknown darkness.
“You’re right, but you don’t seem like one of those people.”
“Then why am I here?” Sohyun leaned in and whispered, “Working for an organization that kills people.” Sohyun sat back and crossed her arms. “I don’t care if we’re doing it for the ‘good’ or not. Killing is killing. We’re still taking a life. Just for a reason that’s more acceptable than a murderer’s.”
“Then why did you accept joining?”
“Pressure and scared tactics lead me here. I mean, what do I have to lose anyway?” Sohyun let out a bitter laugh, shaking her head. “I’m a murder, Taehyung. That’s why namjoon recruited me.” Sohyun slid down her seat as she sighed. “I don’t even know what I’m doing with my life anymore.” Sohyun’s voice came out choked, as if she was on the verge of crying. “I guess I just want to have a purpose. Be helpful to my country instead of being a disgrace to it.”
Sohyun looked up at him, her eyes pink and puffy. Taehyung watched as one tear cascaded down her faintly pink cheeks. “Why are you so curious?”
“You don’t seem like anything your files and criminal records says. It’s like somethings missing. As if it’s unfinished,” Taehyung replied, his voice quiet as he watched Sohyun’s state.
Sohyun stood up and plastered a smile on her face, causing Taehyung’s heart to shatter. “You’re smart and very observant, Taehyung. Let’s see if you can figure that out on your own,” Sohyun said before walking away.
Something fishy is definitely going on, Taehyung thought as he watched her in curiosity.

“Where’s Jungkook?” Sohyun groaned once she figured out that Jimin was replacing Jungkook’s job of supervising her for the day.
“I’m not that bad,” Jimin said, looking a little offended.
