Sohyun woke up to screams ringing in her ear. She closed her eyes tightly and covered her ears to block out the screeching, but it was as if the screams were inside her head, getting louder. Tears trickled down her soft cheeks. She wanted everything to stop. She wanted it to be quiet. Her heart was beating fast and she could hear it along with the blood-curdling screams. She opened her eyes to look around. Sohyun saw blood all over her walls and a bloody knife in her hand, getting the red liquid in her hair. She moved her hands away from her ears, her arms shaking. Blood was spilling off the bed and dripping down the floor, seeping into the white rug. She looked over the edge of the bed to see a body covered in blood, a large pool of scarlet liquid forming around the body.
The screaming had stopped.
As she leaned over the edge further, her heart stopped as she held her breath. The corpse that laid on the floor of her room was someone she knew. Before she could process what was going on, the shouting began again. Her head shot up to the door, hearing the hinges creak as it opened.
Sohyun quickly sat up, breathing heavily. Her heart was racing rapidly against her chest. The sweat that trickled down her body made her clothes stuck to her skin suffocatingly. She felt like she couldn’t breath.
Sohyun’s eyes darted around the room frantically to see everything normal. She sighed, closing her eyes for a second. “Just another nightmare.”
Sohyun got out of bed and went into the bathroom to take a quick shower. After she stripped her clothes off she stepped into the shower, the cold water hitting against her skin like needles. The coldness of the water was numbing her body, pushing away all of her thoughts and worries just for that moment. She shut her eyes as she listened to the water drops hit around the shower, blocking any other sound or thoughts by how loud it was.
Sohyun stood in there a little longer even though she was starting to shiver. She just wanted to get rid of the pain and thoughts. She wanted to forget.
Opening her eyes, she stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around her freezing body. Sohyun stood in front of the mirror and looked at herself. Her mind drifted off as she stared at her reflection blankly. Quickly blinking her eyes, forcing herself back into reality, she started getting ready for another day of work.
One last look in the mirror and she looked emotionless, which is how she felt. Sohyun left her small house and made her way to the restaurant.
As Sohyun stood in front of the restaurant a small smile appeared on her face. After years of fear, pain, and being lonely she finally felt a little happy. It took her away from the past for a little and she liked the people she worked with, except for Yoongi. He was a mystery to Sohyun. She didn’t know how she felt about him exactly yet, but she knew he didn’t like her.
Taking a deep breath, she opened the door and walked into the restaurant. A pair of dark glistening eyes immediately latched onto Sohyun as she walked in. Sohyun’s smile grew as she made eye contact with Jungkook, who was standing behind the counter.
Jungkook grinned. “Hey, Sohyun.”
Sohyun walked up to him. “Hey, Jungkook.”
Jungkook’s smile suddenly turned into a frown. “I’m sorry that Namjoon paired you up with Yoongi. I was hoping he would pair me up with you.”
“And why’s that?” Sohyun asked while tilting her head, causing Jungkook’s eyes to travel over her face.
Jungkook leaned over the counter. “Because I want to get to know you better,” Jungkook replied. “And because Yoongi’s going to be a pain to work with,” Jungkook said while standing up straight again.
