Once Taehyung successfully made it out of Namjoon’s office, he started his job by setting up the tables. Shortly after, a frustrated Namjoon stormed out of the kitchen and back into his office where his glasses were placed back in its appropriate place. Sohyun could hear him groan in frustration as he found his glasses on his desk.
Thinking that it was safe to go into the kitchen, Sohyun got up and made her way to the kitchen to who knows what will await her. Just as she was about to open the door, Jimin slipped out, giving Sohyun a quick smile as they exchanged greetings. As Sohyun entered the kitchen, she was greeted with Yoongi’s back. Hearing the soft footsteps closing in on him, Yoongi turned around.
“What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be getting ready to take orders?” Yoongi asked.
“Not today,” Sohyun replied. “Jin and Hoseok aren’t going to be here to help so I’m here to assist you.”
“The fact that I would be cooking alone didn’t even register in my mind,” Yoongi muttered as he glanced at the floor. His eyes flickered back to Sohyun. “I can handle cooking by myself. I don’t need help.”
“Yes you do,” Hoseok said as he walked out from the back kitchen. “You know how hectic it can get around here.”
Yoongi glared at him. “Shouldn’t you be leaving?”
Hoseok gave him a blinding toothy grin. “I am now. Try not to cause too many problems you two,” he said before walking out.
Yoongi glanced back at Sohyun with a displeased expression, thinking he’d be more of babysitting than getting help. “You can help with simple tasks, but I deal with anything that involves the stove or oven. Got it? I don’t want another Jimin incident.” Yoongi tilted his head slightly as he waited for a response from Sohyun.
“I’m not Jimin, Yoongi. I know how to use a stove and oven. If you need more help than me just assisting with preparation, I can do it,” Sohyun said as she rested against the counter, waiting to be given a task.
Standing in awkward silence for several minutes, Jungkook walked in, immediately smiling once his eyes land on Sohyun. “Hey, Sohyun.” He glanced at Yoongi, giving a nod in his direction. “Yoongi.” His attention went back to Sohyun, his smile growing as he eyed her freshly dyed hair that brought her eyes out more and made her skin glow. “I heard you’re on kitchen duty.”
Sohyun gave a simple nod. “Yup. That’ll be me.”
Jungkook looked back at Yoongi, sliding a small yellow piece of paper with small cursive writing on it over the counter to Yoongi. “Here, Yoongi.”
Yoongi scanned over the written order before going to get the items needed for the dish. Jungkook stood beside Sohyun, his lower back up against the counter, his body leaning in Sohyun’s direction until their shoulder came in contact with each other. They smiled shyly at one another.
“Let me know if Yoongi bothers you,” Jungkook whispered to her.
“I think I’ll be okay, but I’ll keep that in mind.” Sohyun smiled, lifting her chin up.
Jungkook gave her another smile, showing his teeth this time, before walking out.
Yoongi came out of the back kitchen and placed the ingredients down on the counter. “You guys finally done flirting?” Yoongi said, slightly irritated. “Cut these vegetables . . . please.” Yoongi went over to the stove, putting a pot over the blue translucent flames that flickered with a yellow tip.
Sohyun smirked at him before grabbing a cutting board and placing the vegetables on the pale wooden board. She pulled a knife out of the knife block, the object weighing her hand down, the smooth handle turning in her hand as she felt it. Sohyun’s muscles tensed up. She closed her eyes as memories filled her mind in a flash though it felt longer to her.
