I could NOT believe what we were hearing. MY sister was now dating someone my BEST friend liked. I knew too well she was doing this on purpose. Britt probably set it up and had something to do with it. It’s sad how low people can go. It hurt me almost as much as Mia that she would do this. I was sure gonna give her a piece of my mind tomorrow. For now, Mia needed me more than ever. I looked back at her and immediately saw the hurt, disbelief, and disappointment in her eyes.

“Mia.” I said softly.

“Just take me home. Now.” She spat, tears coming down her cheeks.

“No. We’re not leaving you alone to mope around and fall into depression.” I said sternly.

“You know we’re here for you, right?” Ashley asked softly.

She gave us a weak smile, nodded, and walked away. We followed behind her, each of us taking one of her hands. We decided ice cream would be great at a time like this, so we walked 2 blocks past the club to Coldstone. On the way, Mia bawled her eyes out. Ashley and I pulled her into a tight hug before going in.

“Order whatever you want, it’s on me, love.” Ashley said to Mia. She sniffled, and walked over to the cashier.

“I can’t believe they’re dating.” I said, disgusted.

“Neither can I. I’ll have a talk with CC tomorrow, since I know damn well he’s gonna be bragging about it.” Ashley replied.

“It hurts ME seeing her like this. I need a sundae.” I said plainly.

Ashley chuckled as we went to order our ice cream. Mia ordered a banana split, Ashley just got vanilla ice cream on a waffle cone, and I ordered a sundae and a huge piece of ice cream cake. Man, once the comfort food hit our mouths, we were in heaven; and it damn sure felt good. No wonder people turn to ice cream after break ups.

“That was delish.” Mia said, cheering up a bit. “Thank you so much, Ashley.

“No problem. That pretty face should never be tear stained.” Ashley replied, pecking her cheek. Mia smiled. “NEITHER of these pretty faces should.” He kissed me before we walked back towards his car.

The drive home was silent. All we could hear was Mia sniffling and sighing while looking out the window. I felt so bad for her. I seriously thought her and CC were hitting it off. Guess I was wrong. I hope he realizes he’s made a huge mistake. SOONER than later. We arrived at Mia’s condo in no time, and she got out.

“Thanks for everything, you guys.” She said softly.

“It’s fine! Really.” Ashley replied.

“Do you want us to stay with you?” I asked.

“I’ll manage.” She sighed. “See you later, guys.” She smiled weakly.

After we watched her go inside safely, Ashley drove off.

“Damn, all dolled up for nothing, huh?” Ashley spoke up after 10 minutes.

“Well, we didn’t know THAT was coming. Plus, it was still nice, just eating ice cream all dressed up and hanging out.” I said, laughing at the last part.

“That, I’ll agree with. The whole night wasn’t a waste. I still enjoyed it. I hope Mia will be ok.” He sighed.

“I do too. Tonight was fun. She needed us.” I smiled.

After Ashley dropped me off and kissed me goodnight, I went straight upstairs, washed off my make up, and plopped down on my bed. I honestly didn’t care that I was still in my dress, I just drifted off to sleep.
