"Zeref, where's my breakfast?" Mavis whined.

"Gosh Mavis. You're the one making breakfast." I answered rudely

"Why?" She poured.

"I don't know how to cook." I answered nervously, rubbing the back of my hair.

"Well, I'll show you. I know a good fishing spot. Go back to the village and find a pot or something." Mavis ordered.

~Zeref's POV~

Mavis went off fishing with a rod she hid in the bushes. I looked at her confusedly.

I then started walking back to the demolished village in search of a pan, or something like that.

As I searched through the rubble, I found a pot alright. Just as I was getting ready to walk away, a light caught my attention.

I searched under the ruins where I believed the library was.  As I moved the rubble, a book caught my attention.

It had a black cover. On the cover was freaky yellow diamond shaped design with an equally creepy purple eye in the middle.

It was like the book was calling me. I picked it up and dusted it. the title read, The Black Arts.

I never heard if this magic before and I wanted to learn some magic to protect myself and Mavis. Not like I like her anyway. She was just a very good friend.

I hid the book on the pot and ran back to our camp.

There I found an angry Mavis waiting for me.

"Where were you?" She asked getting up. God, if she's going to slap me, please mentally prepare me.

"Looking for a pan and by the way here it is." I smirked holding the pan out  to her. I was hiding the book behind my back, hoping Mavis doesn't see it.

"That's that behind your back?" Mavis asked pointing the thing behind my back.

Spoke too soon.

"N...Nothing..really." I stuttered.

"Come on, Zeref. Let me see." Mavis said before reaching for the book.

"No way." I replied putting the book high into the air.

That girl is too fast and she grabbed the book from my hand. Her delightful expression turned into one of fright.

"Zeref, where..What are you doing with this book?" Mavis asked getting very scared.

" I found it in the rubble and I figured that I could learn some magic from it." I answered her smiling. I didn't quite see that wonderful smile on Mavis' face.

"Destroy it." Mavis ordered seriously with her bangs covering her eyes.

"Why?"

"The librarian told me that this magic is evil and has the potential to corrupt one's mind and make that person lose their sanity." Mavis explained holding the book tighter and trembling. I swear that she was going to cry.

I was shocked. That magic was so dangerous but yet, the voice was telling me that.......Mavis was lying.

It's a good magic and it'll help me protect my friends.

"Please, Zeref. Destroy the book. I don't want to lose you!" Mavis exclaimed crying. I was shocked and this warm feeling appeared again.

It was like I actually cared for Mavis and do everything she says even if it means none of us learning magic.

" Of course, I'll destroy it." I reassured her with a smile. While Mavis got the fire started, I went to destroy the book.

Rather, I went to hide the book.

I don't really know whether Mavis was lying or not. At this point, I really don't care.

I'm gonna  learn that Magic. The voice told me. It told me that my greatest desire will be attained, all I have to do....is master the Black Arts.
