It was Sunday afternoon and the girls were helping me set up for Casie's birthday party. Colson was getting her presents from the bedroom ready to be placed with her other presents. Even though her actual birthday was tomorrow, we had to celebrate it today due to Casie being at school and Colson would be in New York shooting a movie.

"Rose. Can you help me please?"

"Sure"

I walked out of the kitchen and saw Colson struggling on the staircase.

"Geez, how many presents did you get Casie?"

"She's my baby girl, I gotta spoil her"

"You're such a good father"

"I hope to be a good father to our children one day"

"You will. I already know you will"

"Thanks, Baby"

We placed the presents in the living room and Room started talking to Colson and me about proposing to Andrea. They've been dating for 1 year 3 months so it makes perfect sense for him to ask her.

"What do you think Colson?"

"I'm glad you're happy, but it's marriage. It's just a pen and paper"

Seriously. This guy is just so cold on the idea of marriage.

"Colson. It's not just pen and paper. It's about creating memories with the person you love. It's about starting a family and watching your children grow and start their new life. But you would never know that feeling!"

I dropped the scissors and walked upstairs to the bedroom. Just a pen and paper! Ugh. It annoys me that he can't pick out the advantages of marriage. Colson would make a great husband, I know he would. He would never know though because he goes cold when it's brought up.

"Baby. What was that all about?"

"Seriously. Can you not just be happy for your friend. You think marriage is just a pen and paper but it's not. You will never know what it feels like because you go all weird and cold when someone brings it up. It's annoying Colson. If you want to get married just tell me so I know"

"Baby. It's not that"

"Then what is it, Colson"

"I just think. What if get married and something comes along and breaks us apart. I can't lose you"

"You'll never lose me, Colson. We're strong together and nothing could ever break us apart, ever. I love you and will always love you. Just remember that you've finally got a woman who loves you for who you are not what you were in the past"

He sat down on the edge of his bed and put his head in his hands. I kneeled in front of him and pulled his hands away from his face.

"Colson, I'm not saying we have to get married straight away. We'll take our time. I just need to know if you're OK with getting married in our future. I don't want to pressure you"

"You're my everything Rose. I'd love to marry you. It just brings back memories"

"Memories?"

"I was going to ask Casie's mum to marry me because she was my first real love, but it didn't happen"

"That's OK, Colson. Was it because you were young and in love. I understand the feeling"
