Rose's p.o.v
1 week later
I had managed to forgive the girls and the boys except for Colson. Everyone understood that they should've told me straight away when the two kisses happened and they explained that they were all sorry. I'm still mad at Colson because as a boyfriend you meant to be honest and not hide anything away from your girlfriend. In the meantime, I've been spending this last week with Brendon and Sarah. Brendon and I managed to do a cover of Frank Sinatra's Fly Me To The Moon, which was amazing, we recorded it and I uploaded it to my Instagram and Twitter. People in the comment were begging us to sing together on stage next year when his tour comes back to America.
"Brendon?"
"Yeah"
"Just thinking about singing on stage with you next year, what song would I join you on?"
"We could sing Hey Look Ma, I Made It since I think mom will be at one of the shows"
"Awesome, and then maybe another concert I could come and sing This is Gospel"
"You've got great thinking"
"Also, just throwing myself in there can I at least singing Say Amen, Saturday Night with you. I just wanna hit that high note live"
"You can hit that high note"
"Umm, yeah. I learned high notes from the two best teachers, you and Ariana"
"True. I'll go over the shows you can join me on with our tour manager. Did the girls want to sing any songs with me"
"Morgan really wants to do I Write Sins, Not Tragedies and Andrea wants to do High Hopes"
"Sorted. I'll speak to the tour manager. Any other songs?"
"You know already?"
"I do?"
"Begins with a D?"
"Hmm"
"Oh god, Death of a Bachelor, silly"
"I will always remember when that song came out and you phoned me screaming with happiness because you loved it so much"
"It's true. I have a favorite song from every album except Pretty. Odd and Vices and Virtues. Which reminds me. Septemeber 27 is not only my 11 month anniversary with Colson, but do you know that it's the 13th Year anniversary of your first album coming out?"
"13 years. That went quick"
"Sure did. I was 13 and you were 18"
"I remember picking you up from school every time and I had to play Sins not Tragedies because I knew that cheered you up on bad days and even when you had a good day"
"Oh, school memories. Friends good. School the absolute worse"
"You did better than me"
"True"
We continued talking. Sarah was at the gym with her friends. All we did the entire morning was sing songs at the piano, mostly Frank Sinatra. We were taking a much-needed coffee break when my phone rang. Colson.
"Answer it Rose, you can't ignore him forever"
"Fine"
I picked my phone up and Brendon left the kitchen. I answered the phone call and placed my phone to my ear.
"What?"
"Baby, I've been trying to call and text you for the past week"
"I had reasons"
"Look, I know you're mad at me. I understand that but please try to understand that it was a huge mistake and it didn't mean anything"
"Hmm, I have a hard time believing that Colson"
"Please. Everyone has spoken to me and given me a lecture and I now understand that it was wrong"
"Do you what's funny?"
"What?"
"It's not the kiss I'm mad about. It's that fact you and everyone else fucking hid it from me, Colson. Do you know how hard it is to watch a video and find out after like 2-3 months that your boyfriend kissed two girls? It sucks Colson and as a trustworthy and honest boyfriend, you should've fucking told me. Goodbye!"
I hung the phone up and placed it back down. I returned to the piano and I started playing the keys to If I Die Young by The Band Perry. I know it sounds silly, but this is the song I listened to when I had the miscarriage 3 years ago. Every time I sing it, I try so hard not to cry, but always end up failing.
"If I die young bury me in satin. Lay me down on a bed of roses. Sink me in the river at dawn. Send me away with the words of a love song. Uh oh uh oh."
"Lord make me a rainbow, I'll shine down on my mother
She'll know I'm safe with you when
She stands under my colors, oh and
Life ain't always what you think it oughta be, no
Ain't even grey, but she buries her baby
The sharp knife of a short life,
Well, I've had just enough time"
"If I die young bury me in satin.
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love songThe sharp knife of a short life,
Well I've had just enough time"
"And I'll be wearing white when I come into your kingdom
I'm as green as the ring on my little cold finger
I've never known the lovin' of a man
But it sure felt nice when he was holding my hand
There's a boy here in town says he'll love me forever
Who would have thought forever could be severed byThe sharp knife of a short life,
Well I've had just enough time"
"So put on your best boys and I'll wear my pearls
What I never did is doneA penny for my thoughts, oh no I'll sell them for a dollar
They're worth so much more after I'm a goner
And maybe then you'll hear the words I been singin'
Funny when you're dead how people start listenin'"
"f I die young bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song
Uh oh (uh oh)The ballad of a dove
Go with peace and love
Gather up your tears, keep 'em in your pocket
Save 'em for a time when you're really gonna need 'em oh"
"The sharp knife of a short life,
Well I've had just enough time
So put on your best boys, and I'll wear my pearls"
I stood and walked out to the backyard. Birds were singing away in the trees as Penny and Bogart ran around the pool, occasionally jumping in.
"That was beautiful back there sis"
"Thanks. I wasn't really thinking of singing it, but it's the first song that came to mind"
"Do you miss her?"
"Everyday, she would've been nearly 3 if she didn't go so soon"
"I remember when I first heard you sing that song and I knew straight away that it was dedicated to her"
"Yeah. I even had the cutest name for her"
"What was it?"
"Penelope Grace"
"It's beautiful"
"I know"
"Your time will come again when you'll be on your way to being a mom again"
"I hope so"
