"Oh god, it didn't work..." Everyone was sitting back on the couches. We'd done it, we'd staked them, only I'm not sure if it worked. We didn't know enough about this to know the signs of it working. "What if they're... Just dead?" I pulled my knees to my chest, and held them tightly. Christian pulled me against him keeping his arms around me. "We just have to wait..." He said quietly. We'd since pulled the stakes from their chests, I was gripping the one I'd used tightly. Then she moved, ever so slightly. Instantly Eddie was on his feet, normal stake in hand. She moved again, then her eyes opened. She started freaking out, she looked at us, then looked at Dimitri, then she started balling her eyes out.

We didn't go near her just yet. She'd dragged herself over to Dimitri, and was hugging his body, just crying. Then he started to move too, then his eyes opened. Like her he freaked out as well. Then they both just sat there in a ball crying... "Well... I guess that's a good sign. Crying means emotions." Then I stood up, which made everyone flinch. We were all highly strung right now. I took a step forward, and everyone tried to stop me. The commotion made Rose look at us. "Her eyes! They aren't red anymore." I said, then I started walking again. I slowly made my way over to them, kneeling down just in front of them. "Rose?" Her eyes frantically looked me up and down, but she didn't respond. I reached out towards her, but she moved further away. "Rose, do you remember me?" She still didn't respond in anyway. Her and Dimitri just stayed huddled together.

I looked pleadingly at the others, all of whom just shrugged. None of us knew what we were doing. "We should call her mum..." Mia piped up. I knew how much trouble we were going to be in, but we did need help, and we need to get them back to the academy. "I'll call." Adrian said gruffly, and like that he was gone. It was still daylight out, so we were in no danger at all. So we all just sat and waited. They weren't crying anymore, but they didn't look great. They were still pale, but no where near as pale as before. They were dhampirs again, I know that for sure. They are just... different, one would almost say, broken. I'd since returned to my seat beside Christian, we just left them sitting where they were.

"Do you think they remember everything? Mia asked quietly. I just shrugged. "I guess it would explain them being like this. They would've done a lot of bad things, hurt a lot of people. If they remember all of that now, now that their feelings are back. I would be damn near broken too. Hours passed, in silence. Neither of them moved, they still sat in the middle of the floor, using each other like blankets, protecting them from the rest of the world. We'd lost track of time, the hours just went by, no one dared moving or talking. Then there was a commotion. All of a sudden the room was flooded with guardians. Armed guardians. Amongst them, Janine Hathaway. Rose's mother.

They all surrounded the two cowering bodies on the floor. "Stop don't hurt them!" I cried out. Janine was busy looking around, trying to figure out what happened. "We, we saved them. Brought them back. They're dhampirs again." Janine turned her hard eyes to me. "That's not possible." She scoffed. "It is!" Mia cried out. One harsh look from Janine and she cowered back in her seat. "Look at them. The red in their eyes are gone. They have colour in their skin. If they were still strigoi, we wouldn't have just been sitting here waiting for yous, hell we wouldn't be alive!" I could see that she knew it was true. Without another word she turned and walked toward them.

Like when I had approached them, they freaked out and tried to cower away. They still wouldn't talk to anyone, Janine gave up trying to get anything out of them. Instead she had all the guardians escort them into one of the suv's they'd brought. They handcuffed them to the doors in the back seat, and ordered us to return in the car we had brought. They had been walked out in the sunlight, proving more that they were dhampirs again. Strigoi burned it the sunlight. The drive back was quiet, so quiet.

Rose POV (from now on)

I was so busy taunting her that I didn't see it coming. She lunged forward at me before I could react. The pain was so intense, I dropped to the floor. I was screaming, it hurt so much. Then I felt like I was choking on my own blood, it felt like it went on forever, then it was just darkness.
