Dimitri grabbed my arm and pulled me further away from the students. "Are you crazy?" He asked, looking frantically around to make sure no one could hear us. I just nodded. "Think about it. Think of how many guardians die the first time they encounter a strigoi. Hell, I nearly died the first time I come across one." I paused to think about Natalie, an old somewhat friend. She'd turned strigoi to free her imprisoned father. Dimitri's face was full of concern and disapproval. "So many of them are purely too shocked from actually seeing one. It makes them falter, hesitate. Granted not all of them will be like that. The better ones will jump straight into action, but not all of them. We need to get them past that initial shock of 'oh my god it's a strigoi'. It will honestly make them better, so much better!"
I was hoping he'd see my side of it before he completely disregarded my idea. I knew deep down that this was such a good idea. "We can control it, you know we can. It would be such a great learning experience for them. Hell, if I'd had the chance to experience this, I would've jumped at the chance. I know it would've made me so much better!" I laid it on thick, I had to get him to agree with me. "We'll take a young one. That way we know we won't have any problems. We'll track one and watch it, judge it's age and ability." By this point there was a note in my voice that sounded like I was begging. Dimitri sighed and rubbed his temples, I could tell I was slowly winning him over. He was about to speak when Viktoria popped her head around the corner. "Oh, there you both are!"
There was a cheerful note to her voice. "Everyone was wondering where you went..." She said a little more awkward after reading our body language. She could tell that we were talking about something serious. "We'll talk about this later." Dimitri spoke, he kissed my temple then grabbed my hand to lead me back out to our awaiting students. It was time to wrap up the class for the day. So we 'debriefed' our students, giving them some stuff to work on then the bell rung. They all took off to their next class. We didn't have a class for second period so we grabbed our stuff to take it to the staff room. I so wanted to bring up the strigoi again, but I knew I needed to wait for Dimitri to address it. So I just bit my tongue and walked on in silence. I wonder if Sydney has anything that would knock out a strigoi? That'd make our lives so much easier. We made it to the staff room without saying a single word, I guess he was having a real good think about it.
I made myself a hot chocolate and Dimitri a coffee, Pfft he is still allowed coffee I pouted silently. I sat down beside him at one of the tables, his face read that he was still deep in thought. I just sat there quietly sipping away at my hot chocolate. It was so quiet that when he finally sighed, it actually gave me a fright. "We'll have to okay it with Principal Smirnov." Was all he said. I got so excited! "C-can we go talk to him now?" I asked, I could barely contain myself. Dimitri got a little smile going which he tried to hide. We both missed hunting the Strigoi, it's about the only annoying thing with this pregnancy, I can't hunt anymore. For the sake of me, Dimitri gave it up as well. So we headed off to go see Smirnov. We only had to wait a couple of minutes before we could go in. "Ah, Dimitri and the wonderful Rosemarie." He boasted as we walked in.
He motioned for us to sit down. "I trust you're both settling in well here?" He asked once we were seated. We both nodded. "It's been good." Dimitri spoke before I could. "So, what can I do for the two of you today?" He asked as he leaned back in his chair, making himself more comfortable. "We just need you to hear us out before you freak out." I spoke nervously, he instantly sat back upright in his seat, serious face on. "After being out there in the 'real world' and experiencing what it is really like out there. One thing that was utmost clear to me, as students we really do not get prepared enough for what we have to face." Smirnov was nodding along as I spoke. "We are sending young kids out there blind. They don't know what they have to face. All the theory classes and physical classes in the world can't actually prepare them for the monsters of the world." I paused for a minute to take a breath. "In my personal experience, I was not prepared for the first strigoi I encountered. I was still at school, and it was someone that I knew really well."

VampireSo I love the Vampire Academy books, they are so great. This story is based around the books, but with a twist. So Dimitri is Rose's forbidden teacher lover, everything else would mostly play out the same: group of friends, Lissa & Christian, Mason...
