Chapter Five: The Aftermath

I think about what all had happened and I feel sick. I think about Gale.I think about Peeta. I think about the pain I caused them. I think about Finnick. I think about Prim. I think about my dad. I think about everyone who died because of me. I burst into tears. Instead of Peeta's arms I feel Haymitch's arms. "Shh shh your okay Katniss. Don't cry." "I killed him." "Who?" "Gale. I killed Gale." He sits there taking in what I just told him. "It's okay. Shh shh. Go back to sleep." I fall asleep in Haymitch's arms. He places me back next to Peeta and I snuggle up in his chest. He wraps his arms around me and places his chin gently on my head." I love you Kat." he says gently. " I love you too." I say falling asleep. When I wake up Peeta is not next to me anymore. I get worried. Then I remember he is going to the bakery. I walk downstairs to the kitchen. There is a note on the counter. I pick it up but my first wave of sickness this week comes. I rush to the bathroom. I brush my teeth, get dressed, grab the note, and walk to the bakery. "Just a second." I hear Peeta say as I walk in. I walk up behind Peeta and hug him. "Hey Kat." he says. I walk away to find a fresh supply of cheese buns. "My favorite." I whisper. I grab one and walk around the bakery eating it. When I finish eating it I feel sick again. I run to the bathroom with Peeta close behind. "Are you okay?" he asks. I just stick my thumb up. I guess it's payback for what I have done. "Did tou read the note?" he asks. "No." I answer. "READ IT NOW." he says like a child. It reads:

Dear Katniss,

     I will be at work most of the day. Come visit if you want. I know it isn't much but I am taking off work tomorrow for our anniversary. I have a very special day planned for tommorow. There will be a picnic in the meadow and a very special suprise.

"Hmm? Suprise?" I ask. "Yes." Peeta replys. I think about the woods when I see Greasy Sae. It reminds me of Gale and what I did to him. "Peeta I have to tell you something." "What?" "I killed Gale."
