Chapter 20

~Max's P.O.V~

What Jason said sent chills down my spine as I began to question whether or not to drink the coffee that Jason had just brought me. "I did it again didn't I sorry i'll just leave you be" Jason got up rushing away I really felt uneasy around him and now I was scared to drink the one thing I really liked in the morning my coffee how dare he. After finishing my thought I looked around before Nikki showed up out of nowhere "Nikki could you not sneak up on people!" I shouted which David must have heard because he came out confused because Nikki was awake I was guessing. "Good morning Nikki what woke you up so early?" he questioned as it was the first time Nikki had been up this early she was almost as bad as David when it came to sleep. "Couldn't sleep after Max woke up last night" she clearly forgot that David still had no idea that she was staying in mine and Neil's tent. "Where you worried about Max that's nice of you Nikki but it's alright he fine" David then walked off not questioning my coffee at all. He really must have asked Jason to bring me coffee I thought before Nikki asked why I didn't come back to the tent last night. I of course ignored her almost like clockwork Neil walked in bags under his eyes he clearly didn't sleep at all last night I wonder why. "Max you must have heard something we didn't last night" he grabbed my shoulders and looked me dead in the eye. Was I the cause of there both of them not sleeping still they may have heard something that clearly was different than what I heard but they heard it to the last part the part they missed I couldn't explain why I was scared of the voice I heard but I just was. "Max what. Did. You. Hear" Neil said now gritting his teeth "Calm down it was nothing" I shook his hands off my shoulder and decided why not take a sip of the stupid coffee that was the only normal thing about the morning. "Max don't lie to me I need to know. How on earth could you have heard something different to what we heard when we should have hear what you heard?" Neil knocked the coffee out of my hand. "Great now I need to get a new cup and more coffee. Neil you need to calm down" I growled getting up then had to quickly catch my balance because of a wave of light headedness. Now i'm light headed fuck what else could go wrong today. After regaining my balance I walked out of the mess hall to make another cup of coffee because the coffee machine Neil, and I had made much better coffee than what ever machine made the cup that Neil knocked out of my hand. By the time I made it to the tent my head was spinning I just ignored it I was sure I could just walk it off. I made my coffee and started making my way back to the mess hall when a car pulled into the open area under the sign. My blood ran cold I was the only one outside and was to far from my tent to hide from the drivers view. I froze maybe she wont see me if I stand still I thought as her car door opened. It was my aunt and she wasn't alone her drug dealer boyfriend was with here I might have been able to get away from her but not them both. "Max why didn't you tell me" she shouted running toward me embracing me in a hug and catching David's attention cause no sooner did her arms wrap around me David was outside I was surprised that no other campers where waking up or if they had they hadn't come out of there tents. David walked over to me and my aunt and finally took a social cue correctly "i'm sorry miss but i'm going to have to ask you to let go of him" David's voice was cold and serious he wasn't taking any of what my aunt was saying. David clearly remembered her but he was most likely mad that even though all my other family was told about David adopting me none of them not even my aunt until now decided that she was going to make and appearance. "Max dear what is he so mad he remembers me doesn't he?" she was still hugging me clearly angered by what David had said. Now all the campers had decided to get why now my aunt was going to lose it and they where all going to see something just awful. My eyes trailed to her car and I noticed that the monster himself was looking like he was going to get out of the car. "Shit" I accidentally said out loud causing my aunt to scold me he the oldest way possible she slapped me across the face no sooner did she do that did she start up her act again. "Max i'm so sorry it's just you where always told not to swear and.." she was cut off by David taking me out of her grip. "Miss i'm going to have't to ask you to leave" the camp was watching David happy go lucky David of all people suddenly become a very serious person they all began to whisper and gossip about what was going on. "How dare you take my nephew away from!" me she stood up shouting and proceeded to hit David in the face. I didn't speak I was more worried about the monster in the car that would kill everyone here if she told him to. I looked over and I began to worry he was now out of the car and standing there watching and waiting for her to give him the ok.
