It's Christmas eve,
Ring ring ring..
"Hold on, someone's calling me" Kaycee exclaimed putting down the gift she was just about to open
Her family was way too busy opening their gifts that they didn't even probably hear her.
She clutched her phone in her hand and exit the room, careful not to step on the mess on the floor.
Once she got to a more quiet place in the house, she answered it without even reading the caller ID which is probably really stupid.
"Hello?" She breathed out
There was 4 seconds of silence before she heard a deep raspy voice "Hey,"
"Hi" she giggled biting her lips as she immediately recognised the voice
"Merry Christmas weirdo" he chuckled
It's been a while since they both heard each others voice. Sean in Mexico and Kaycee in LA. The last time they met was three days ago, the day before he left. He's coming back tomorrow afternoon and the next next day, they'll be off to the Grand Canyon
"Merry Christmas lewser. Shouldn't you be asleep or something?" She giggled, pressing her back to the wall.
She was standing near the front door since it was the only quiet place she could think of at the moment. She could still hear her parents and siblings voices and yells in the background along with the Christmas music that was playing but it was still manageable
"Ehh, it's only 2 am and I really wanted to talk to you"
She could hear him breathe heavily and move around as she couldn't help but let out a small giggle
"Oh yeah, how is it there? You havin' fun?" She asked pressing her lips into a thin line
"It's so fucking hot in here" he replied almost instantly, causing them both to laugh
"How's the sushi?" He added
"Ughh.. you don't even wanna know" she giggled, putting her hand up to her forehead as she slid down the wall and slowly sat on the ground
"Try me" he replied
"We had to play rock paper scissors for the last piece" Kaycee sighed but was soon followed by a laugh
"Who won?" Sean asked curiously
"Obviously Dad" they both laughed
"I'll make some for when we go to the grand canyon" he said
"Noo, you don't have time.... Anyway, I know it's kinda 2am in the morning there, but you up for facetime?" She trailed off, not believing that she even had the courage to ask that
"Why? You miss seeing my face?" She heard him chuckle
"Ha ha, you don't have to.. I was just asking. I mean, it is Christmas Eve after all" she rolled her eyes even though she knows he won't see it
She was waiting for an answer but there was nothing.
She looked at the phone and saw that he hung up, what. a. loser.
Right when she was about to stand up from the floor, there was an incoming facetime call which she immediately answered
It took a while to connect and start the actual video call but after a little anticipated waiting, his face popped out of the screen
"There she is" he chuckled leaning in closer to the camera
"There you are" she replied walking over to the living room again
