Jace’s POV:

A round of gasps filled the air when Amelia had exclaimed Chris had disappeared. I had been trying to tell them the same thing, but of course Maryse, being her stubborn self, hadn’t listened. Adults were now shouting questions at Amelia, who was standing there still as a statue not even bothering to answer them. Isabelle was white as a sheet, her lipstick looking as dark as blood against her pale skin. She was clutching onto Simon, who looked confused, as usual. Alec was now standing up trying to talk to Amy, but kept getting interrupted by the adults shouting around him. Clary had a shocked look on her face as someone next to her tried talking to her. When I see the guys face, I am immediately filled with rage.

“Nick?!” I say, making my way to one of the most despiteful people I know. “What the hell are you doing here?!

“I could be asking you the same question, Johnathan.” He says as he gets when I get to his seat.

The last thing I want is to cause more drama, but I can’t help it. This is the asshole who took away one of the few girls I have ever loved in my life. “I happen to live with the Lightwoods, my parabatai is a Lightwood, and you are sitting there talking to my girlfriend.”

“Really?” He says, smirking at me and pointing at me and Clary. “You two? I must admit Jace, your standards have gotten low.”

“Excuse you?” I hear Clary say. I can feel my veins burning. The heavenly fire is starting to act up. I have to calm down. If I don’t, who knows what can happen. Clary seems to notice too, because she taps Izzy on the shoulder and points to me.

Exasperated, Amelia turned her attention to us. “Nick, please not here.”

“Don’t talk about my girlfriend like that, Dawnblood.” I say. I can definitely feel the fire now. I look down at my wrist and I can see the faint gold of my veins underneath my rune.

“Why not? Seriously. There was Amelia, and Ar-“ he started Amy cut him off.

“Nick, stop being a prick!” She says, not bothering to look at me.

“But really. Think about it. Both you and her were… well… hot. And, well, Clary, no offense but you’re-“

“Nick!” Amy and Iz both say.

I hear Clary gasp. “Are you serious right now? Why are you acting like this all of the sudden?”

He was trying to crawl under my skin. Make me do something I’ll regret. I don’t think he knows about the fire that runs through my veins, but if he keeps it up he will.

“At least I have a girlfriend. What ever happened to yours?” I say nonchalantly .

He does one of those half laughs. “Yeah. Let’s just say it didn’t work out. Oh, she told me to give your ass a message. Aria told me to tell you she never loved-“ But he didn’t get to finish his sentence because that was the last straw. I lift up my hands and let the fire flow free. His Shadowhunter training saved him because he ducked just in time. The room was silent. Nick looked at me with absolute fury and some fear.

“Don’t ever mention Aria to me.” I say to Nick through clenched teeth. No one said anything for a moment.

“Children go back to the Manor, including you Amelia.” Maryse said, breaking the silence. “We’ll settle all of this in the morning. No worries. And Nicholas, I think it best if you leave. Now.”

Amelia gave Nick a quick hug before he left, then proceeded to make her way out the door herself. One by one, Simon, Isabelle, Clary, Alec, and I made our way toward the door.
