The Call

Jugheads POV
(A week after the last chapter)
It was probably 2:00 AM and I had gotten a call. THE call. I woke up and groggily picked up my phone. I checked the caller ID and it was Mrs. Cooper. "Hello? Mrs. Cooper why are you calling me at two in the morning?" I Asked sleepily.

"Jughead. It Betty. She's in the hospital." She Said. 

"What?!" I exclaimed.

"Just get here." She Said before hanging up. I hurriedly got out of the apartment and left a note saying I went to the hospital and that Betty was hurt. I got in my car and drove off quickly. I got there and saw mrs. Cooper, Veronica, and Archie all sitting in the waiting room.

"What happened? Where's Betty?" I asked frantically.

"She fainted. I guess she wasn't eating or something and she was abnormally thin. She's on fluids." Mrs. Cooper explained.

"Can I see her?" I Asked.

"She's asleep but sure. Room 34c." Mrs. Cooper said. I walked into her room and she was asleep. I sighed and sat by her bedside. I kissed her hand as a tear escaped my eye. I kissed her forehead and sighed.

"I know we're on a break but I just have to kiss you when you wake up." I chuckled. I sat by her bed for about an hour before she woke up. "Betts." I gasped. She sat up with a small smile.

"Hi Jug." She Said. I immediately kissed her lips. She was tense at first but relaxed. I pulled away after a bit.

"Sorry I just had to do that betts." I Said. "I love you so much Betty."

"I love you Juggie." She replied.

"What happened betts?" I Asked even though I knew what happened.

"Nothing Jug." She mumbled.

"Don't tell me nothing happened Betty. You're laying on a hospital bed for gods sake." I stated as tears rolled down my face. She sighed and cupped my cheek. She wiped my tears with the pad of her thumb.

"I'm sorry Jug." She whispered.

"Why weren't you eating love?" I Asked.

"Fat... he called me fat. Fat pig to be exact." Betty said.

"Betty you are not fat. Whatsoever. You're beautiful." I told her and kissed her. She nodded. I felt like there was something else she wasn't telling me but I let it be. She's already gone through too much. "Can this break be over now betts? Please." I begged.

"Yeah. I really need you." She Said before starting to cry. I crawled into bed with her and held her small frame in my arms. I took off my beanie and placed it on her head. She smiled. I kissed her softly. She closed her eyes and rested her head on my chest. I kissed the top of her head. Betty eventually fell asleep and mid sleep her doctor walked in as well as mrs. Cooper, Veronica, and Archie.

"Hello." Her doctor whispered. I lightly shook Betty and she groaned before waking up. "Hey Betty. I wanted to talk about your state." She Said. Betty nodded. "Alright well you are malnourished so you're on fluids but you'll also need to eat. Bit by bit you should get better but a little setback is fine. So you should start eating small portions and get bigger and bigger."

"Alright thank you." Betty said.

"Of course. And here's some jello for you to try and eat." She said handing Betty a cup of jello before walking out.

"How are you feeling?" Asked Veronica. Everyone chatted for a bit before leaving Betty and I. They figured that I'd be best at trying to get her to eat.

"Why don't you take a small bite betts." I Said holding out a spoonful of jello. She ate it and quickly swallowed. "Good job betts I'm proud of you." I Said kissing her lips. She smiled proudly. "Do you think you can have some more?" I Asked. She nodded. She ate about half of the jello cup before stopping. "You did good betts." I Said.

"Thanks Juggie." She said smiling. I kissed her lips and smiled at her.

"Okay. Why don't you rest now." I suggested. She agreed and snuggled close to me. I kissed her head and she soon fell asleep. Veronica and Archie came in to see how Betty did.

"So how'd she do?" Archie asked.

"Great. She ate half of the jello cup." I Said.

"that's really good for not eating in a while." Veronica said. I nodded and smiled proudly. I was glad that Betty was doing better after everything. She's been through so much.

"Oh hey what time is it?" I Asked.

"10:30. Why?" Archie asked.

"Jelly has chemo at 11. I figured I could check up on her." I Replied. They both nodded. After a bit of chatting they left. Mrs. Cooper came in and said she was leaving but would come back tomorrow. At eleven I carefully got out of the bed without waking up Betty. I left a note saying I was going to see Jellybean but I'd be back. I eventually found jb at chemo.

"Jug!" Jb Said happily.

"Hey jelly." I Said giving her a hug.

"Why are you here?" She Asked.

"Betty's in the hospital." I Said.

"What?!" Jb exclaimed.

"Yeah. She just fainted from malnutrition. But she's getting better. I just figured I'd check up on you." I explained.

"Oh well I'm glad you did. You should go back to Betty." Jelly Said.

"Alright." I Said.

"See you at home?" She Asked. I nodded.

"Maybe you can come visit Betty." I suggested

"Yeah! Chemo is over at noon. Maybe you can come back?" She Asked. I nodded smiling. I said my goodbyes before going back to Betty.
