Just as Alice had finished wiping the kitchen bench, the doorbell of her apartment rang, which made her jump the slightest bit.

She walked over to the front door and peeked through the little hole on her door which revealed Liam standing behind it. She smiled as she unlocked the front door and opened it to greet Liam.

"Hi!" Alice cheered when Liam came into view.

A smile appeared on Liam's face, "hey Alice"

Alice invited Liam in, closing the door once he had stepped inside.

"How are you doing?" Alice asked Liam with a smile, walking over to him.

Liam chuckled, "Unlike you, I don't have a hangover so I'm doing pretty good"

Alice laughed, "it isn't my fault I have a hangover!!"

"Hmm sure" Liam laughed with a wink.

Both Liam and Alice made their way to the kitchen island, Liam sitting down on the stool while Alice made some coffee for the two of them.

While Alice was gathering the cups, curiosity got the better of her and the question she had been burning to ask blurted out. "May I ask why you're not working today?"

Liam chuckled before he cleared his throat, "well I still have a week left of leave, which I don't mind to be honest. It's quite nice to have a rest"

"Oh right, that makes sense"

Liam and Alice continued to talk for a few hours, getting to know each other and their hobbies. Liam has taken a liking to Alice, he enjoys how bubbly and outgoing she is. She's a girl Liam doesn't come across much in his life.

"We should definitely do this more often" Liam laughed.

Alice tried to catch her breath from all the laughing and wiped away a tear from under her eye, "yeah, that would be nice"

"You're very different from all the other girls I've met throughout these last few years" Liam said warmly, with a smile.

Alice looked up at him, their eyes brushing past each other's. "Oh yeah? how so?"

"Well they're all either gold diggers and after my money, or they're super serious and no fun to be around. But you, you're so bubbly and outgoing. And from what I've caught on you don't give a shit about money. I mean you're dating an actor for gods sake, most girls would be running to his feet just for his money. But you, I can tell you like him for him" Liam explained, which caused Alice to smile uncontrollably.

"That's so nice of you Liam, no one has ever complimented me that much" Alice said calmly with a smile.

Liam looked shocked, genuinely shocked. "Really?! that's really hard to believe"

"No I mean it, I've been alone most of my life. My parents have always been out working so they never really payed attention to me. School was hell, I had one best friend that I could trust but not even she complimented me like that" Alice said, a sharp pain hitting in the heart when she thought of her parents and how they don't care.

"Your parents sound like assholes" Liam muttered.

"Yeah, they are" Alice said with a sad smile.

Suddenly Liam jumped up and looked Alice in the eyes, "enough of the sad talk! let's go and do something fun!"

Alice laughed as she stood up, pushing the stool under the kitchen island.

"I say we pick out a game on your xbox and play the hell out of it" Liam suggested excitingly.

Alice smiled but then remembered how long Liam had already been here. She thought of Fionn and how she wished he was here spending this much time with her. Should she even be spending this much time with a boy when she's dating someone else? Oh that shouldn't matter, right?

For some reason, letting Liam stay longer didn't feel right. As much as she enjoyed spending time with him, she didn't want him to get the wrong idea. And she was planning on calling Fionn tonight, and also still had to make dinner.

"Hey listen Liam, I've got work early in the morning tomorrow and I want to call my boyfriend tonight so I think we should call it a day" Alice said sweetly.

"Yeah of course, no that's fine. But hey let's do this again sometime" Liam smiled warmly.

Alice nodded and showed Liam the way out. Just as she closed the door a weird feeling grew in her stomach again. One that she had this morning as well. She shook it off and decided to call Fionn before heading off to make dinner.

As she reached for her phone, she clicked on Fionn's contact and pressed call.

The call dialed for a few seconds, before finally getting picked up from the other line.

"Alice?" Fionn said through the line.

"Hey Fionn" Alice replied with a smile.

Just hearing his voice made her feel happier. God she's so in love with him.

"What's up?" Fionn asked.

A confused look spread across Alice's face, "nothing? I just wanted to talk to you"

"Oh yeah that's okay" Fionn replied.

Something didn't feel right. But Alice couldn't place what it was.

"So what have you been up to today?" Alice asked, trying to shake off the feeling.

"Oh just the usual, working and stuff"

"Anything interesting?"

"Nope"

Something is going on with Fionn, he was acting strange. This isn't the Fionn Alice is used to.

"What's going o-"

"Hey listen babe I gotta go, I'll talk to you soon okay?" Fionn said quickly, cutting Alice off.

"Oh okay, wher-"

"Bye!" Fionn said and then the line disconnected.

"Oh bye... love you too.. " Alice said sadly as she turned off her phone.

This is my fault isn't it? He's still upset about what I did. But I apologized to him, he knows I didn't mean it. Right?

Alice put her phone down onto the kitchen counter. A sharp pain hit her heart, a pain of heartbreak and hurt, but she couldn't quite understand why she was feeling this.

After a few minutes of just standing silently in the kitchen, Alice finally made some movement. She slowly moved through her kitchen, gathering all of the ingredients she needed to make her dinner. She felt empty and numb, an old feeling she hadn't felt ever since she met Fionn.
