_____________________________"TEN MINUTES, YOU GUYS! WHERE THE HELL IS LANCE?"
Pidge looked around the dim backstage area to see Lance's position behind the curtain empty. She tucked a piece of her golden hair behind her ear and tapped on the stage manager's shoulder. "I can go look for him if you need me to, Shiro. Besides, I don't have to go on till the next scene."
"Ok, just try to hurry. We can only wait a bit longer."
Pidge gave a stern nod and place her books on the fake Grease Lightning. That's right: they were doing Grease, and Lance McClain just so happened to be the male lead, Danny Zuko, while Pidge was a background character. She walked into the lit hallway and knocked on each door.
The boys' dressing room was empty, the kitchen was empty, the girls' dressing room was empty, and both bathrooms were, you guessed it, empty. Pidge was starting to wonder if he had left the theater until she heard some very heavy breathing coming from behind a clothes rack in the sewing room. Her face flushed bright red as her mind wandered into the gutter and she knocked on the wall to let them know she was there. The breathing immediately stopped and was replaced by a couple sniffles. "Y-yeah?"
Pidge moved the clothes rack out of the way to discover Lance sitting on the floor having a panic attack. He was shaking as tears streamed down his face when he looked up at her. When their eyes met, he looked back down at the ground as his cheeks turned red. Pidge assumed it was from embarrassment seeing as she just caught him crying. She grabbed a tissue from the table of sewing equipment beside them and squatted down to hand it to him.
His makeup (though he wasn't wearing much) had worn off where he was crying. Lance took the tissue and used it, but ended smearing his face. His foundation was now streaky and, somehow, there were dark brown marks from where his filled eyebrows had been smudged.
Pidge helped him up despite his not wanting to move and led him to the kitchen where the tub of makeup was. "So, what happened?" she asked as she started to wipe off his ruined makeup and begin reapplying everything.
Lance's eyes had been glued to her since he stood up. He was lost in space as he admired the way her amber eyes caught the light juuuuust right and the insane amount of freckles that dotted her cheeks and forearms. Lance had seen her around the theater before. Hell, she sang and danced in at least half of the numbers, but he had never gotten this close of a look at her until now. She was now putting all the supplies back into the tub and was worried as to why she didn't get a response. "Lance, you still with me?"
His thoughts were interrupted by her giggling at his attention span. He could listen to that sound on repeat for the rest of his days. Then, the giggles stopped and a pale hand was placed on his cheek. "Seriously, is everything ok?"
"Uh, yeah yeah. It's all good in Mr Robin's neighborhood," he replied flashing one of his signature smiles despite how nervous he truly was now that he noticed how close she was to his face. Lance had completely forgotten about his panic attack in the sewing room and was now being consumed by the beauty in front of him. Lance started to lean a little closer and close the distance between them, when the boy playing Kenickie ran through the door panting and ignoring the moment he just interrupted.
"Shiro... sent me... to come... look... for you," he said between breaths. "Come on," he continued as he grabbed the sleeve of Lance's leather jacket as lead him out of the kitchen, Pidge following close behind. Pidge could tell Lance's anxiety was returning by the look of pure horror when saw the stage. Keith let go of him to return to his own spot, which left a worried Lance with a concerned Pidge. They had to start soon so it's not like she could give him a proper, serious pep talk. Instead, she decided to play it cool and settled with a "good luck, Zuko," and a playful punch to the arm before returning to her own spot.
That was it. That was exactly what Lance needed to walk out there: a beautiful girl telling him good luck and ignoring his break down for the time being.

<<<< by Micheal >>>>The cold spring air was refreshing to Lance after being stuck in that nerve racking yet comforting building of a theater for five hours straight. He pulled his car keys out of his pocket and unlocked the driver's door. He tossed the bouquet from his family into the backseat and started to sit down. That was, until, a certain background character appeared out of thin air. "Hey, Lance..." she said, leaning on his car door.
Her 50s era school-girl skirt and button up had been replaced by a pair of dark skinny jeans and a mint green hoodie. She hadn't taken off her makeup, which included bright red lipstick, so that's why she figured he was starring her mouth. And she wasn't completely wrong.
"Uh hey," he said after he realized he was starting to drool and returned his gaze to her eyes. Big mistake. Lance found himself getting lost again as he took a step closer to her. And another. And another, until her face was just a few inches from him.
"Look, I just came to check on you after... you know."
Ouch
Lance's wide eyes turned into sad ones as he took a step back and looked at the ground. "Uh... yeah... I guess I was just more nervous than usual seeing as this was my first lead role and all..." he said rubbing the back of his neck.
"Fair enough," Pidge stated, "I remember being a nervous wreck my first show ever. And I was only 7!" At this point, she started laughing again and Lance couldn't help but smile too. Despite what the little voice in the back of his head was telling him to do, Lance once again took a step forward and cupped her cheek the way she had to him earlier. Her laughs stopped as she noticed his hand and the bright ocean blue of his eyes.
She could feel her cheeks heating up in the cold air and closed her eyes as she leaned in as well. Then, an SUV honked and stopped right behind Lance's car. The passenger side window rolled down to reveal one of the stage crew and Lance's best friend, Hunk, wearing a big smile in the passenger seat with Keith smirking at them from behind the steering wheel. "Whoo! Get some, Lance!"
"Really, guys," Lance hollered at them as their car pulled away. Pidge took the opportunity to look at her phone and see that it was nearly 11:00 pm.
"Well, it's getting late..." she said as she noticed that the parking was now pretty much empty. "Goodnight, Lance." And with that, she stood up on her toes and kissed his cheek before giving a weak smile and walking to her own car.
Lance was dumbfounded as his hand reached up to wave goodbye and she pulled out. After she was gone, he climbed into his own car and the hand moved to where she kissed him. He shook his head in an effort to get his mind working again, but it was in vain because when he looked into the rear view mirror, he noticed the big, red lip mark just under his cheekbone and a big, goofy smile made its way onto his face.
"And just think," he thought to himself, "we still have five more shows to do."
