I jumped back into my truck, putting the MagnoPulser in the foothold of the passenger seat. I drove back to US Auto, maybe Merle had found his truck by now. I pulled up, walking over to Merle.
"Hey, any luck with the Death Wish?" I asked. Merle shook his head.
"They musta taken off with the Death Wish. That's bad news. It's got an M60 loaded onto it. We gotta get it back before the cult goes around makin' swiss cheese outta everything. Thing guzzles gas the way I do beers. If we're lucky, the Peggies are fillin' it back up. Check the Golden Valley gas station, it's the closest one." Merle explained. My eye widened at how powerful the vehicle must be. I rushed back to the truck, driving down the road with Boomer and Peaches still in the back. I pulled up outside the Golden Valley Gas station, Boomer and Peaches jumped out of the truck.
"Deputy. You near Golden Valley gas? Is my truck there? It's gotta be. Peggies wouldn't have made it far!" Merle told me over the radio. I crouched, sneaking closer to the station, Boomer and Peaches splitting up. Boomer and Peaches took out two of the Peggies, whilst I snuck closer to the black truck, decorated in purple and green accents. A Peggie sat in the driver's seat as another filled it with gas. I took out my pistol, attaching the silencer. I signalled for Peaches to take out the Peggie filling the truck up, whilst I quickly opened the driver's door, shooting the Peggie in the head before he could react. I dragged his body out and whistled, signalling for Boomer and Peaches to come back. They jumped in the back while I jumped in the driver's seat, taking off with the truck.
"Hey, Merle. I got the Death Wish." I radioed him once I left the gas station.
"Come on back to the garage. We'll go after them together." Merle told me, clearly excited to have his truck back and to go after the people who stole it. I drove the Death Wish back to US Auto down the road. Pulling up, Merle ran out of the garage, smiling as he looked at his truck. He jumped in the back, taking control of the turret. "Hit the gas, Rook. I'll shoot." I smiled, turning around and leaving US Auto. Whilst I drove to the Construction Yard, Merle reminisced about how he knew this was going to happen. I drowned him out, not interested in hearing him talking about her soulmates. Any time we passed a Peggie, Merle aimed and fired his turret at them, taking them out as we went. We drove into the Construction Yard, dozens of Peggies raised their guns at us. Merle shouted abuse at them, as I drove into the toxic green containers filled with Bliss scattered around the yard. Merle cheering and firing at the Peggies as we caused destruction. Once the last container was destroyed, Merle finished taking out the last of the Peggie forces. Despite driving into containers and the bullets being fired at us previously, no damage was evident on the Death Wish when I got out. I collected all of the ammunition from the bodies before talking to Merle.
"Nothin' left but smoke and bullet holes! Sweet, sweet vindication. You're a natural, Rook. The Death Wish is yours. A wild coyote such as yourself can do a whole lot more damage to the cult with it than I can. Say hi to Dutch for me next time you see him, will ya?" Merle said, smiling as he left. I stood in shock.
Merle had just given me his baby. His armoured truck equipped with so much weaponry. Before I could thank him, he'd left. I walked back to the truck, receiving a lick from Boomer and Peaches. I decided to drive back to the Lamb of God church to check on Grace and her fathers grave. Driving over was relatively calm, avoiding Eden's Gate as much as I could. Boomer, Peaches and I jumped out of the vehicle, walking up to the Church. A lady walked up to me, grabbing my arm.
"Hey, I saw you help Grace. Was wondering if you could help me?" She asked, her eyes begged for me to help. I turned to face her properly.
"Of course, what is it?" I asked.
