Grenades and Molotov cocktails flew towards the gate as the Peggies charged forwards from the forest. I quickly aimed and fired at the projectiles, taking them out before they could get close. Aiming back at the Peggies, I began to fire, trying to stem the onslaught of hostiles. I shot at the propane tanks littering the ground, downing multiple Peggies. I could hear the cries of the Peggies charging forwards and the shouts of the citizens behind me as they ran to safety.

I must protect these people! Not wasting a second, I changed magazines and continued firing, running back and forth along the wall. I threw my own projectiles at the Peggies, taking out a good chunk of Eden's Gate's forces. As I changed magazine on my weapons, I looked at the battlefield. From the trees, Blissed Peggies began to emerge, charging forwards. Cursing, I looked around for a stronger weapon. Picking up a discarded rocket launcher, I aimed and fired at the oncoming forces. A satisfying explosion of lights and fire took out chunks of enemies. The pain in my leg and arm became excruciating the more this fight drew on.

I need to finish this quickly. My radio crackled to life as they alerted me that Peggie's had made their way inside the wall. I turned around and began firing at the Peggies inside the wall, taking them out as quick as I could. Switching between killing the Peggies inside the wall and those outside, I began to breath heavily, exhaustion began to kick in.

I can't give up now! No matter how many Peggies there are, no matter how tired I am. I will not let them win! Determination filled me as I gritted my teeth against the pain and aimed once again. Smiling, I continued firing both the rocket launcher and my other weapons, quickly taking out the remaining forces. Eden's Gate must have realised they were losing this fight as they began to drive a fuel truck straight at the gate, a last-ditch attempt to break through. Picking up my rocket launcher, I fired my last rocket straight at the oncoming truck. The truck exploded, a thundering boom rang throughout the area. Dropping the empty rocket launcher, I used my rifle and pistol to take out the last of the enemies. Once the last Peggie dropped, I stood there, holding my arm just breathing deeply. I heard cheering from behind me as I made my way down the ladder. I walked to the Sheriff, who was talking to another man holding an assault rifle.

"Rodgers! There's an arc welder somewhere inside. Footy was using it last, get on it!" The Sheriff ordered as the man ran inside. The Sheriff looked at me as we walked. "You're with me... Start collecting scrap... And if you have to pull the doors off some of the cells, do it! Now hop to! We ain't got much time." The Sheriff gave out orders left and right, rallying everyone into performing some type of task to prepare for the next fight. Two people carried another person on a stretcher into the Jail. We walked up to one of the people carrying the person, a woman wearing a hoodie. "There problems?" The lady shook her head.

"No. Couple of the Peggies scaled the wall but we got 'em... door." I rushed to the door, opening it as they walked through. The Sheriff inspected the injuries of the person on the stretcher.

"Doesn't look too bad. You'll be alright. Just keep pressure on it." The Sheriff looked at me. "You know? I was gonna retire last year. Was worried I'd get bored." We chuckled, smiling at each other. We both knew that he would never be able to live a retired life, he loved helping people and couldn't sit doing nothing. Being the Sheriff made him happy, he could never give it up. The lady coughed, drawing our attention back to her.

"Hey. You're gonna introduce us or we just gonna stand around here all awkward and shit?" She asked, walking through the Jail towards the medical bay. A passing man in a vest heard.

"Language!" He shouted back. The woman rolled her eyes.

"Oh fuck off, Virgil. Not today." The lady was not in the mood for any of this. The man, Virgil, opened the medical bay door.
