all you could think about was how tzuyu was right.
the new school uniforms looked great.
chaeyoung puts her hand in yours as you both walk to the private school down the street. it was tradition to have a sleepover before the first day of school and then walk together to class.
it was like that since you two became best friends.
"kai," she asks looking up to meet your big eyes.
you hum out a response, enjoying having her by your side.
"do you think we'll find girlfriends this year?" her eyes widen in hope as she looks at you as if you knew all the answers in the universe.
as you near the big building you study at, you tuck a strand of hair behind chaeyoung's ear that was escaping the confinement of her bun. tightening your hold on her hand, you bring it around and over her shoulders.
to an outsider, you two would appear to be a happy couple, but in reality, you too were just happy friends who love the comfort of each other.
"we don't need to find them, chae," you sigh in content, looking around the school yard full of incoming student in matching uniforms.
some of the students waved at you with a big grin on their face. it's not that you're popular or anything, you were just good at making friends.
but you weren't paying attention to that, half of your brain mentally scolding yourself for being rude. the other half was giddy and nervous to see the beautiful taiwanese girl you finally—after three long years—talked to. when you failed to find her, you internally sighed in defeat.
taking in a deep breath as you both walk into the private school, you tap her nose.
"when it's time, the universe will present them to us."

dahyun hooked her arm with tzuyu's grinning wildly.
she was extremely excited to start learning in a real school. for her whole life, dahyun was homeschooled by her grandparents since her parents were always gone and never wanted to pay for dahyun's education, believing she would inherit the family business. but now her grandparents are weaker than when she was younger, so it left them no choice but to come together and break their piggy banks, hoping to give their little granddaughter a great future.
thankfully, dahyun was a friend of momo, sana, and mina, and she was tzuyu's best friend. so when dahyun's grandparents were out for bubble tea with mina, complaining about the expenses of the school, mina shared with them that tzuyu also attended and it wouldn't be a problem to give them a few favors. of course, her grandparents rejected the money, but mina was very persuasive.
although dahyun was homeschooled for her entire life, she was rather wise. maybe even as smart as the intelligent tzuyu who was all too modest to admit her brain held large amounts of wisdom surpassing her peers.
"i wonder what's for lunch today!" dahyun said, excitedly. "i heard private school food is the best!"
tzuyu laughed at dahyun's excitement, watching the cute girl smile widely.
"i wouldn't know, sana packs my lunch," tzuyu stated, pulling her school bag closer to her.
dahyun perked up even more at that. "what did she pack?"
tzuyu removes her back pack, also curious as to what her unnie packed for lunch. both dahyun and tzuyu peer inside the bag, looking for the clear case that hold her lunch, but they don't need to look so hard as the smell find its way to their noses.

"mmm," dahyun and tzuyu moan at the same time, looking at each other and laughing.
wiping her tears of laughter, dahyun suddenly looks behind the tzuyu, her mouth slowly falling open.
"who is that?"
curious as to who captured dahyun's attention, tzuyu instantly feels her stomach drop after turning around to see you and the girl from your instagram post.
you had just put your arm around the small girl, hands connected, smiling fondly down at her while she looks up at you in question.
"his name is kai," tzuyu says, feeling her heart break a little at saying his name.
dahyun shakes her head. "not the guy, the girl."
"i think her name is chaeyoung," tzuyu says to the smaller girl."
dahyun smiles to herself, whispering chaeyoung's name under her breath. "huh, she's cute."
tzuyu shakes her head, trying to save her unnie from heartbreak. "no, dahyun-ee unnie, she's his girlfriend. he's taken," she whispers the last part to herself.
"oh, well that's gonna have to change," dahyun suddenly pulled tzuyu into the sea of people entering the school, making tzuyu lose sight of the happy couple. "i don't give up so easily...
