Y/N headed home with Barry later that night after they stopped by Joe's house for a few hours. They chose to walk and just enjoy the nice night, both of them needed a break after what happened at the station. "I'm glad you didn't get arrested," Y/N said as they left Joe's house.
Barry chuckled, wrapping his arm around her shoulders, "Me too," he said kissing the top of her head. "But something tells me that Patty won't stop here."
Y/N sighed, she knew exactly what Barry meant. "I am well aware. She seems pretty hell-bent on making this happen. I just wish we knew why."
"What do you mean by that?" Barry asked.
"I mean, she left, for a long time. It doesn't make sense why she would come back all of the sudden, and with a vengeance for the Flashes. Why now?" Y/N wondered; the whole situation with Patty puzzled her.
Barry shrugged, "I'm not sure. I know we didn't end things the best way, but why wouldn't she come after me then, why now instead? I guess I'm just as confused by the whole situation," he admitted, opening the door to the apartment for Y/N.
Y/N was stumped, however, she walked into the apartment and turned on the TV, it was playing Channel 52 News. Barry walked beside her, watching as the report of Barry being arrested played, and how he was accused of being the Flash. Afterward, a video of Patty giving a formal apology was played.
"Do you think Singh put her up to it?" Y/N asked, turning to look at up Barry.
Barry was lost in this situation, he was beyond angry with Patty, that she would go this far. Patty was so hell-bent on the Flashes that she was taking resources from her task force to hunt them rather than any other metahumans.
"I'm not sure, but Singh might have just solved our problem," Barry said as the report then showed Singh appointing a new head of the anti-metahuman task force...Joe West.
The reporters then began talking about a different story. "Well, that could have ended-"
"Worse?" Barry guessed. "That seemed a little too easy," he added, feeling slightly skeptic at how the situation resolved. Things had never been this easy, and Barry couldn't help but feel uneasy about it, it made him fearful of the future.
"At least it's over," Y/N mentioned, walking upstairs to get ready for bed. Barry stayed downstairs for a few more minutes, just thinking. He eventually headed upstairs as well, ready to join Y/N for the night. He entered their bedroom and saw her fast asleep in their bed, curled up in a few blankets, wearing one of Barry's plaid shirts.
Barry smiled at her before dipping down and kissing her forehead before changing and crawling in beside her. He draped his arm lazily over her waist before closing his eyes, long overdue for some rest.
He woke the next morning to an empty bed, Barry aimlessly reached out for something that wasn't there. He slowly opened his eyes and was surprised to not see Y/N sound asleep beside him like always, that is until he heard the door open. Barry turned and smiled when he saw Y/N balancing a tray in her hands.
She looked up at him and frowned, "You were supposed to be asleep," she commented, sitting down beside him and handing him a tray assorted with a homemade breakfast, courtesy of his wife.
Barry smiled, kissing her cheek lightly, "You didn't have to do this," he said gladly taking the tray from her hands.
"I know," Y/N shrugged, "But I wanted to," she said crawling back under the blankets next to Barry.
"I love you," he told her softly.
Y/N smiled at how sweet Barry was being, "I know, and I love you too," she said nuzzling into his side while he ate the delicious breakfast she made him. When Barry glanced down minutes later he saw Y/N fast asleep, her head resting against him, he smiled, knowing that he was so lucky as to have her in his life.
