These are just a few of the songs that have inspired some major plot points in Hellfire. You'll notice that beside each lyric is a short connection to the story or a character. Those are going to be important later on, so if you're reading this I advise you to take a mental note. If you don't then you'll just have to find out at the end of the book for the epilogue and Q&A.

"Tell me which one is worse, living or dying first?" - I've wanted to put a bit of a pause on the action for this second part, so now we're going to take a look further into Lux's character and her mental state. Don't worry, I'm not going to be romanticizing mental illness or simply using it as a plot device. I myself struggle with mental illness so I can assure you it's not going to be just "I'm sad."
Battle Cry//Imagine Dragons
"Nobody can save you now, it's Do or die." - Lux as well as other members of the Phoenix Squadron are going to have to make a decision that could possibly change their fates and the fate of the scouts.
Way Down We Go//Kaleo
"Cause they will run you down, down til you fall." - You can't escape the past if it's dark enough. You can try to, but it will always catch up to you at some point.
Skulls//Bastille
"I hope you can make me laugh, when we're six feet under and bored of each other." - Maybe Levi will stop being an asshole and finally smile.
This is War//Thirty Seconds to Mars
There isn't really a key lyric for this one as I think the whole song just describes or fits in with both AoT and Hellfire very well. It's more of like an anthem for the book. If you really wanted to though, you could consider Lux as a pariah. She's unwanted by society because of her past (which we will get to eventually I swear. Trying to uncover Lux's backstory is like getting to the basement in SNK lmaooo)
Northern Lights//Thirty Seconds to Mars
"I am alive, I'm just playing dead
I'm gonna say what should have never been said
The giants of the world are crashing down
The end is near, I hear the trumpets sound." - This one actually applies to Levi. Once some shit is revealed, Levi is gonna pop off. However you won't exactly know when. That's the fun part.
I See Fire//Ed Sheeran
Again I really see this whole song fitting the book, but really the verse "And if we should die tonight, then we should all die together." because of how unpredictable life in the scouts is.
Kings and Queens//Thirty Seconds to Mars
"These lessons that we learned here have only just begun." - there's more to the story *cough maybe a sequel cough*
Thousand Eyes//Of Monsters and Men
"I lie awake and watch it all, it feels like thousand eyes." - Specifically chosen because of Lux's insomnia. A side effect of people experiencing insomnia is paranoia. Also because of her reoccurring nightmares.
"I am the storm." - Lux isn't just another character that has a similar background to Levi. She's more than that. There's way more to her story (which is why I've split this book into parts). Originally I didn't go very in depth on her character. She was an open book, but since I'm rewriting I realized there's a giant chunk missing, which is what I'll be writing for the next few days.
Enjoy the Silence//Ki:Theory
"Feelings are intense,
Words are trivial,
Pleasures remain,
So does the pain." - Isayama has actually said that Levi is the most emotional character in the series, he just represses his feelings. I can relate to that myself. It's easier to ignore feelings when you're not exactly sure how to process them.
Holding Out for a Hero//Nothing but Thieves
"Somewhere just beyond my reach is someone reaching back for me." - Even though they're adults, Levi and Lux are strung out on teen angst. Lux is in denial of ever finding someone to love her, while Levi is in denial of being able to love.
Become the Beast//Karliene (Predator Remix)
"Do you feel the hunger
Does it howl inside?
Does it terrify you?
Or do you feel alive?" - Old habits die hard for ex-cons. Lux, although string, will have to fight giant temptations brought to her by _______. (It's blank on purpose. I think they call that a teaser??)
The Devil & The Huntsman// Sam Lee
"Oh Father dear lie and be safe
From the path that the devil made." - First of all this song just sounds really badass. Second of all, it has to with Lux's past again. But it's interconnected with someone who will be briefly mentioned, so keep an eye out.
Hurricane//Tommee Profitt
"Though I am breaking down again
I am aching now to let you in." - it's a known fact at this point that Lux struggles with trusting people. Again, it has to do with her upbringings and where she's from. This will tie into the mental illness portion of the story.
War of Hearts//Ruelle
"Shadows creep,
And want grows stronger,
Deeper than the truth." - wow I love making my characters suffer through slowburn romance. Even though some things might be bad for you', you can't help but want them.
Soldier//Fleurie
"Quiet now, you're gonna wake the beast
Hide your soul out of his reach." - Someone does not like Lux at all. They're just good at hiding it. Really good.
Since this book isn't completed yet, and I'm not sure when it will be, expect to have me update this list from time to time. I might come across a song that reminds me of a future scene or a past one so just keep an eye out.
As for the first part of part two, I'm working on it. I'm rewriting large portions of this story though so I'm trying to make sure it all fits in chronologically.
