a/n: someone messaged me the other day and asked if I had an ideal person to play Levi in a live action who would it be and my brain immediately short-circuited because I don't know of Japanese actors. So if it was up to me, and we were to ignore the fact that Levi is supposed to be Japanese, I'd pick Min Yoongi from bts. (I say Japanese because even though his nationality is French he's apparently of Japanese descent??) I just think his personality fits Levi's character well. Also he's cute so uwu or whateva
Levi POV
It was a little later into the day when I returned from Trost district, around lunchtime. Walking up the door of the safe house I took note that Lux's horse was in the pen around the front of the house meaning that she was either out by herself or inside.
The two cadets that had left yesterday to speak to Erwin on our behalf were leaving the headquarters in Trost just as I arrived. I can only assume at this point that they made it back safely since there were no attempts to communicate with me once I stepped foot into Erwin's office last night. I even left earlier than Hanje today.
When I step foot inside I notice how quiet it is. There are three cadets sweeping up the kitchen area, but they're not making any noise whatsoever. I walk further into the house making one of the old wooden floorboards creak, and one of the cadets looks up at me with panic. I cock my head to side questioning them. They salute me, but motion to the living area just beyond the kitchen.
I walk past the kitchen and look over to the small living area. There, in a cushioned chair positioned in front of the window, Lux sits. Her eyes are closed and her breathing is even, which can only mean that she's asleep. Sitting next to her on a table beside the chair is a tea cup.
I turn to look at the three cleaning cadets who have stopped what they're doing to observe. Quickly, I motion for them to leave the kitchen as it is for now and either return to their rooms or head outside, as long as they're not in here. Once I see them leave I turn my attention back to Lux, and cross my arms.
I want to know how long she's been sleeping like this, but the peaceful look on her face keeps me from shaking her awake.
I could just leave her here, but she would wake up with an awful crick in her neck and then she'd be in more pain from her knee.
I scoff at myself. Since when did I become soft? I'm not cold hearted, but I don't usually go out of my way for people. I don't usually pick people up and carry them to their bedrooms so that when they wake up they won't feel achey.
I know I've already lost the argument with myself when Lux moves slightly and winces when she tries to readjust her leg. My compassion gets the better of me, so I lean down and pick her gently. Carefully I sling her arm around my neck and try my best to avoid any pressure on her injured knee. After I successfully get her situated I straighten back up and begin to walk down towards her room.
On my way down the hallway, Lux begins to mumble something. Most of it is incoherent mumbling and I can't make out what she's saying. Then, I feel a warm tear on my neck where he face is buried.
If she isn't having a nightmare, then the Dream still isn't very pleasant. Maybe I should have just woken her up...
Luckily for me I get to her room, and I carefully maneuver the door open. When I begin to make my inside I realize that the doorway is too small to walk in like this, so I shuffle in sideways and hold my breath in hopes that none of her limbs hit the frame. It's another success on my behalf and I silently exhale in relief once I lay her down on the bed. She immediately curls onto her side.
In the afternoon light coming from the window, I can see the reflection of wet tears down her face. It makes me mad, and I feel even worse when I realize I have nothing to be mad about. Am I mad that she's crying in her sleep? Or am I mad that I don't know what she's crying about?
