please don't save me

au in which tony, stephen and peter go on a mission and stephen dies (I AM SORRY) to save their lives

both Stephen and Tony are pushing away a gigantic spaceship which is on its way to the avengers headquarter with the help of Peter.

they didn't realize there was an army of armed guards coming in their way.

as soon as tony realizes that, stephen materialized the spaceship in the other dimension, preventing it to crush down the headquarter.
peter is immobilizing a part of the guards with his webs, and also tries to communicate with Tony and Stephen

P: hey i- i need help here! there are too many guards!

t: alright Peter. i'm coming there. Stephen can you do that alone? do you need help with it?

s: i think i can do that. if i don't come back in about twenty minutes, come and find me. the other dimension's entrance is here.

t: be safe. please. now go

s: i will

stephen goes in the other dimension and sees that a lot of aliens are coming out of that spaceship. they get closer to stephen and he starts to fight them, killing the most part of it. during the fight, one of the aliens, possibly one of the smartest, steals the agamotto's eye from stephen and gets in the spaceship. stephen is pretty much nothing more than a neurosurgeon without that and has, this time, to fight them with his bare hands.

after pushing away most of the aliens, he tries to run inside their base. when in, he sees that he could die because of all the armed guards monitoring the Boss and the time stone.

he tries to sneak closer and unfortunately gets caught by a guard. he tries to escape but the strength of that alien is too much. it brings him to he boss and struck him on the ground

B: really well. were you trying to sneak here without me knowing? i have eyes everywhere.

S: give me the time stone back.

B: oh why would i? you can't do anything without it, i could kill you right now

S: then do it? why are you still here talking to me?

B: you're clever, wizard. my boss wants you dead. or if you don't want to die, we will kill both that spider thing and iron man. so you will blame yourself for the rest of your life. you choose.

stephen is in shock, thinking that he will die for real this time. but he promised to tony and peter that he would have defended them even if he had to give his own life.

S: i'm not afraid of death. but are you? those two will hunt you till the end of their days. why can't we bargain?

B: my bargain is; you die and they live. they die, you live but blaming yourself for their deaths.

S: what do you need the stone for?

B: i think that's none of your business.

S: oh i think that it is since the time stone is mine and it's my job to protect it.

B: alright bye bye mister sorcerer or whatever you are

both the Boss and its minion leave him in the room with the two bigger guards. one of them gets and throws him out of the spaceship, making him break his leg and an arm.

it gets out and stabs him in the chest, leaving the enormous knife, which looked like a sword in the human eyes, in his chest.

stephen is on the ground in pain, slowly dying and hoping this pain will end soon. he waits for tony or peter to come, but none of the two is showing up. he loses hope and gives up, closing is eyes, hardly breathing.

meanwhile, Tony and Peter defeated all the enemies

p: mr stark we did it!

t: yes kid we made it. now let- oh god. it's been more than twenty minutes. peter let's go in the other dimension.

they both run in and the first thing they see, is stephen's body in a pool of blood. tony runs as fast as he can and kneels near him, finding that "sword" in his chest.

t: STEPHEN! STEPHEN WAKE UP PLEASE! WE ARE HERE!

he holds back the tears, checking the pulse.

t: he is still alive but he's leaving us, peter. we need to do something.

peter is crying on the ground looking at stephen's body

t: peter please, come here, he is gonna die if we don't do something!

peter comes closer and sobs near tony

stephen slowly opens his eyes and looks at tony

s: i am sorry...

T: who did this to you? what happened? please stay with us.

stephen whimpers in pain as he has a panic attack for it

s: i.. had to- defend you

tony looks at the body and notices that the agamotto's eye is missing

t: defend from what!? where is the time stone?

s: defend from.. death.

t: you are dying stephen!

s: i didn't want to.. see the man i love and..  my favorite spider die .. in front of my eyes..

t: y-you love me?

tony is in shock. he always wanted to tell him how he felt, he always wanted to say that he loved him. now he's watching him die in front of his eyes.

stephen nods and look away, scared that he hurt or freaked him out with this

tony gently puts a hand on his cheek and makes stephen face him again. he kisses him and lets the tears fall down

t: i love you too, stephen. please don't leave me.. i beg you.

s: this is what they want. you will be safe after this.. it's all i want.. you and peter to be safe.. please don't save me..

t: no stephen no, we can do this together.

stephen closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, before exhaling and never breathing again.

tony is holding his hand and crying on his chest.

t: i could have saved you..

he gets the body and brings it in the reality.

stephen had a funeral to remember him as hero.

"in loving memory of Stephen Vincent Strange, whose life was given to save his loved ones from death."
