let me heal you

i have seen this fanart (credit art: Koglamogla on instagram) and i wanted to "caption" it. basically, tony and stephen are best friends, and tony threw a party to celebrate the fact that he came home after being recovered in an hospital for about 2 months after losing an arm in a battle (possibly the future avengers 4 fight? idk.) he is suicidal because he won't be the same and... you will see. no more spoilers.

trigger warning: suicide attempt (not accomplished)

it's evening at tony's house, and the big family is celebrating tony's homecoming from the hospital. they all seem so happy and relieved to see Tony with a smile
back on, but they don't know what that smile conceals.

tony has been severely depressed after he had lost the arm, thinking about how it ruined his career as iron man. they all know he could create himself an arm since he can build magnificent armors to put on, but the frustration, the sadness and pain, are making him feel powerless. he doesn't eat as much as he used to, he hadn't built something since everything has happened, he simply stays in bed all day, pretty much crying thinking about his disability.

most of the times Stephen goes in his room to comfort him and prevent him to do something bad to himself. he understands how tony feels more than any other person in the planet, since he's been in literally the same situation with his hands. he comforts him saying that it will get better and that everybody will help him build a very functional arm for him. he tries his best to make him happy but sometimes things don't go as planned.

they're sitting around a table chatting about the things that happened when tony was absent.

thor said that Loki came home again after the battle, finding out that one of the allies was him.

steve and bucky got together and they're now running a farm with goats.

wanda and vision got engaged and waited for tony to come home to get actually married.

Natasha and Bruce finally got together and last but not the least, Peter got admitted to study at Harvard's.

meanwhile when at everybody something had happened, stephen was the only one who still was alone, the one who hadn't experienced an happy event that could've changed his life completely.

"what about you, stephen?" tony asks him, meanwhile the others are talking about other things

"nothing has happened. still the same. i most probably always be like this." stephen replies in a cold way, sounding heartbroken.

"don't.. say that, Steph.." he tries to reassure him "you will find somebody who will pass the rest of their life with you. i assure you that."

"you will too again, tony.. i'm so sorry for what happened between you and Pepper. it happened with Christine too. but it's not your fault. she couldn't understand your pain... and your disability..." stephen says, softly, looking at him in the eyes, noticing that he started tearing up "oh no, tony.. come here" he opens his arms as tony shifted closer, slightly sobbing on his shoulder. "you're gonna be okay.. it's all okay.."

"its not okay."

"it is what it is..."

it's about 2 am when everybody left. everybody except from stephen. he never left. he used his invisibility power to stay in tony's house, to see if he was gonna do something.
in the beginning he just acts normal. he gets a glass and fills it with the little bit of whiskey Thor left after drinking almost all of it. he seems happy. as he starts drinking, his eyes fill with tears. he starts crying, covering his face with his only one hand. the tears are falling down like a raindrop in a rainstorm.
