Thomas spent the night in the Pit as a punishment for going into the Maze three days prior. The next day, as Adeline was wrapping up kitchen duty, Teresa found her. Adeline realised the almost panic written on the girl's face, coming to an abrupt stop before her.

"Teresa? —"

"It's Alby. He's awake." Teresa rushed out, and Adeline didn't even think twice. Instead, Adeline followed after Teresa toward that Medic hut. But, as both girls raced across the plains of the Glade toward that Medic Hut, a loud booming noise rung out across the Glade, causing both girls to clasp their hands over their ears. Both shared a look with one another.

"Minho and Thomas!" Both girls simultaneously chorused at the same time, realising that both boys were still out in that Maze. As soon as they realised themselves, Adeline noticed a crowd of boys gathering at the closest Maze Doors.

"Head back to the Medic Hut and stay with Alby." Adeline ordered the girl, and Teresa agreed, turning back on her heels. As soon as Teresa had turned on her heels and started to head back to the Medic Hut as ordered, Adeline headed toward the crowd of boys. Adeline could sense Gally's anger once more as she neared the Doors. Seconds later, both Minho and Thomas jogged through the open Maze Doors, slowing down to a brisk walk as soon as they stepped foot onto the grass inside the Glade.

"What the hell is going on out there?" Newt grilled the second both boys arrive back inside the Glade. The group starts to follow after the boys, to hear in what both boys have to say. Adeline trails alongside Chuck.

"What have ya done now, Thomas?" Gally sneers, but Thomas doesn't listen to the Builder.

"We found something." Thomas explains, still catching his breath. "A new passageway. We think it could be a way out."

"Really?" Newt's voice is hopeful, his eyes instantly trailing toward Minho to get some confirmation in Thomas' words.

"It's true." Minho agrees. "We opened a door, something I'd never seen before. I think it must be where the Grievers go during the day."

"Wait!" Chuck bellows, pushing his way to the front where Newt, Minho and Thomas walk alongside one another. "Whoa, whoa, whoa ... You're saying you found the Griever's home? And you want us to go in?"

"Their way in could be our way out, Chuck." Thomas states, turning to the thirteen year old boy that now walks alongside him, in between Minho and Thomas.

"Yeah, or there could be a dozen Grievers on the other side!" Gally argues. "The truth is, Thomas doesn't know what he has done, as usual!"
