Almost every weekend, Allura joined Lance and his family for dinner. Lance's mom absolutely loved Lance's girlfriend, like she was another addition to the family, She would always say things about them getting married and encouraged them to have children--actually that was a bit of a demand. She badly wanted more grandkids than she already had. Lance's older siblings were in their early to mid 20s and already had at least one kid. Lance being the second to youngest.
"Alright, baby, we're here, " Lance announced, pulling his blue corvette into the driveway of his home. When he stepped out, literally every one of his five dogs greeted him with jumping and slobbers to the face like usual. Allura happily joined him and scratched behind the ears of a large saint bernard. It was the oldest dog out of the bunch and Lance's favorite. He had gotten the dog when he was 10 for his birthday and had loved it ever since. It was also the only one that didn't jump when it greeted anyone.
"Shall we go inside, m'lady?" Lance said in his fake but playful excuse for a french accent while pushing a large doberman puppy off of him. Allura nodded and stood, taking his hand. Lance made a clicking sound with his tongue to alert the saint bernard,
"Come on, Blue. Let's go in."
They began to make their way up his long driveway, which was lined with neatly cut bushes and shrubs. His house was white and had many many windows and a sunroof the size of a car windshield. There was no doubt that the McClains were a very wealthy family. but despite their wealth, they had many issues and hardships to deal with. Even if the household looked nice on the in and out, that was only a mask to hide the things that went on there.
When they entered the home, Allura's impression was to be glomped by a little girl with short but poofy and curly black hair, her eyes blue like Lance's. Her name was Lily. Blue eyes were rare in their family, but it was a sign from their distant scottish descent.
Lily was also the youngest of Lance's nieces and nephews and by far the cutest child ever.
"Allura!" she squealed, letting the girl hold her in her arms.
"Are you staying for dinner?" another voice asked. Allura looked up to see a girl with straight brown hair and swift bangs, her eyes brown. She was an older niece of Lance.
"yes, I am." Allura answered with a sweet smile.
"Great!"
"Mari, go tell Mama that Allura is here." Lance ordered gently, placing his jacket on the coat rack. The girl nodded and took Lily's hand, heading toward the kitchen, where there was a warm smell of food. It was a sweet, yet spicy smell.
Lance was about to follow when his older brother, Marco, rushed past him. He seemed to have been being chased by his own kid, a scraggly and scrawny looking boy named Jackie--well, that was his nickname. He had brown messy hair and freckles, which were also rare. Only he and Lance had them and would often sit and count each other's when they were bored to see who had more. Lance won every time.
Following them was another nephew known as Casper. He was the only McClain with blond hair.
Lance rolled his eyes before leading Allura to the dining room. He pulled out a chair for her and let her sit, watching as she smoothed a napkin in her lap politely.
"Mommy! Look at Allura! She looks like a princess!" Lily squealed, sitting in her mother, Ana's, lap. Ana resembled her own child completely with an exception of her blue eyes.
"yes, she does!" Ana agreed, smiling at Allura. Allura gushed. "Aww, you're both so sweet~"
"Yes, she does, " Lance joined in with a smirk. "I am very lucky~"
Lance looked across the table at his father, who was oddly quiet. He normally was like this when Lance had a girlfriend over. He was like that when he was dating Nyma and before that Florona and all the girls before them. It was like he was aware that his son was a hoe. Lance considered it was because that's how his grandfather was when he had his father. Lance's father didn't even know his mother, but everyone thought she was probably a prostitute who refused to take custody over him.
Lance watched as his mother brought everyone's food to the table and sat at the end like she was boss of the house...She was.
She went quiet and bowed her head while clasping her hands together. Everyone did the same. Everyone but Lance. His mother peeked at him and scowled.
"¡Hijo! ¡Orar!" she shouted.
"Ah! Si, si!" Lance jumped, quickly following her instructions. Allura glanced at him with a giggle.
Just another day in the McClain household.
