Ban ran through the forest, a determined smile on his face. He was going to find (Y/n) and find out what was going on, whether Edward liked it or not.

The moon shone down on him as he ran, reflecting brightly off his pale skin. His eyes focused on the path ahead of him, making sure to avoid any branches or logs which lay in his way. He felt unstoppable as he ran, adrenaline coursing through his veins. It was the sort of rush that he had when he was with (Y/n) and the thought of getting her back made him excited. He was smiling for the first time since you had disappeared a week ago. Sure he had smiled when he saw you in the castle but he broke twice as much when you hid from him, acting as if you were afraid. He knew the real you would never be afraid of him, what was there to fear? He would never dare to lay a hand on you that wasn't gentle, he treated you like a queen and you were one in his eyes. The light of his life, his everything. But his expression returned to a serious one as he started to doubt this.

Was this really the best idea? He hadn't even consulted Meliodas about it, it was the thought of getting you back which drove him. He pressed on, barely even halfway to his destination. But with all of this new energy, he felt like he could run all night. It was cold and very dark but the moon illuminated the forest and in this state, he couldn't even feel the icy wind which blew past him as he sprinted.

Eventually, Ban stopped running. He had made it to the castle. He peeked around a tree and recognized the familiar door which had earlier been slammed in his face. He gritted his teeth and reached into his pocket, expecting to find the ring which he had given to (Y/n) as a symbol of how much he loves and cares about her. He sighed quietly when he remembered leaving it on the bar, he felt the urge to head back but he wouldn't let himself. Turning back meant giving up.

He took a deep breath and began surveying the castle. If he wanted to get in he would need to climb up one of the walls and make his way along an uncovered bridge and into the building. But just as he was about to run towards the stone structure he heard a stick snap.

His body froze in shock, not expecting to have anyone else around. He turned around, crouching to stay hidden. He expected to see a deer or maybe even a boar but was surprised when a baby blue pigtail became visible from behind a tree. More of the person was revealed as they peered around the trunk, meeting Ban's ruby orbs. Her (e/c) eyes widened in shock when she noticed that she had been discovered. She quickly looked around herself for somewhere to hide but it was no use, she had been caught.

"Ava, what are you doing here?", Ban hissed quietly, his eyes narrowing as the girl revealed herself fully. She nervously rubbed her arm before reaching into her pocket. She removed it to reveal her closed fist, her fingers curled tightly around something. She took a deep breath before allowing herself to relax, making the engagement ring glint in the moonlight. Ban's breath got caught in his throat as he watched the timid girl awkwardly shift in her spot. She moved her weight between her feet as if she badly needed the bathroom but was trying to subtle.

Ava expected a scolding. She thought he would take her by the ear and pull her back to the Boar hat. She closed her eyes and flinched, awaiting a lecture about running off and not letting anyone know where she was. But it was as if she had completely forgotten who her father was. Her body tensed as Ban's arms wrapped around her, pulling her into an embrace. He pet her hair and rested his chin on top of her head. He waited until she relaxed before placing his forehead against hers.

"Aren't you mad?", Ava asked, looking straight ahead to meet her father's gaze. He lightly shook his head, both happiness and sadness evident on his face. He let out a pained chuckle and held her gaze, being reminded how much he missed (Y/n) just by the similar shade of (e/c) eyes.

"No, the only thing that upsets me right now is that fact that there is a man in that castle trying to take one of the lights of my life away from me", he said, his voice was soothing and easily calmed Ava down. She looked down at her hand, playing with the ring. Ava looked back up and pushed the ring towards Ban only for him to push it back.

"I want you to hold onto it". Ava tilts her head to the side, pulling away from her father.

"What? Why?". Ban chuckles and sends her a wide smile, showing off his sharp canines.

"Because I want you to be there when I slide that ring back on her finger". Ava's face lights up, a mixture of shock and excitement visible. She puts the ring in her pocket and takes her father's hand, beginning to pull him towards the structure.

"Well, what are we waiting for!? Let's go get her!".
