(Y/n) left the bathroom and returned to her room, sitting on the bed. She let out a sigh and lay on her side, staring at the wall. You sat and watched through her eyes, wondering what it was that she was thinking about. She didn't seem to be in a good mood, perhaps it was sadness that you were sensing. Curious, you decided to ask her about it.
"Are you alright?" you ask. She lets out a quiet hum before sitting up and rubbing her eyes.
"Yeah, just a little bored I guess. Whenever Edward is gone I feel so bored and empty," she admits. You nod in response, knowing that she couldn't see you.
"I can understand that. Any day that I'm away from Ban goes so slowly, being with the one you love is the best feeling in the world," you say, not being able to stop smiling as memories of your time together fill your head. She gets up and goes to her mirror, taking a seat in front and staring at your reflection.
"Can you tell me about him?" she asks hopefully. The question surprised you but you didn't mind talking about it.
"Sure, what do you wanna hear?" She hums as she thinks, picking up her hairbrush to tidy your damp (h/c) hair.
"How about you start from the beginning? I've got all day until Edward comes back and I'm not sure how much longer your soul can hold out." With a quiet sigh, you begin.
"It was just over 16 years ago. I used to be a widely known thief who stole from the rich and gave to the poor, occasionally breaking that and doing my own thing. One day after visiting a homeless shelter and giving them why stolen items, I ran into Ban. He told me he knew about my stealing and wanted to be my partner. At first, I didn't want anything to do with him, I had a pretty gruesome childhood so all I wanted was to be left alone. But he was so persistent and didn't leave, no matter how many times I told him to. Eventually, I gave in and allowed him to become my partner. We travelled together for a while and in the end, fell in love." You paused with a sigh, a warm feeling filling whatever was left of you.
"I heard Edward say something about him leaving," she says, staring into the mirror as if she was looking at you. You let out a quiet sigh as you remembered the not so good part of your past.
"Yeah... When Ban and I confessed to each other we were a mess of raging hormones and ended up sleeping together that night. When I woke up the next morning he wasn't there, but I was so in love with him that I stayed at that camp for over two weeks, hoping that he would come back," you continued. She nodded her head, a small frown present on her face.
"You must've been heartbroken," she thinks aloud.
"I was and what made it worse was the fact that in that one night, we conceived a child," you add. Her eyes widen.
"Wow, what a predicament that must've been," she breathes out. You couldn't help but giggle at how spot on her words were.
"Yep, in the beginning, I hated him. I wished that he would die so that I would never have to see his face again, but at the same time, I was still in love with him. I never felt the same way around anyone else and so I didn't think I would ever be able to love again. I thought I could because Ban did. He had a lover before me and if I remember correctly I think her name was Elaine. But no matter what, over eleven years I remained in love with him and when I saw him again, even though I was still in love with him, I harshly rejected him. It was mainly because I didn't want to get hurt again and I also wanted to protect Ava, at the time I didn't think he would be a suitable father."
"Ava is your daughter, right?" she asks. You hum in response.
"Yeah, I named her after my younger sister," you explain. She giggles and leans back in her chair.
"I had a little sister, her name was Rosie though," she says, staring off into the distance. You smile gently, staring up at the dark ceiling of the room you were trapped in.
"Rosie... that's a pretty name," you mumble. She hums, nodding her head gently.
"It is, it fits her too since she's such a beautiful girl." You noticed the sadness in her voice as she spoke about her sister, also sensing a hint of anger. In the reflection of the mirror, you could see her fists tightly clenching the skirt of her dress.
"Is there something wrong?" you ask, hoping that she's willing to respond. She refused to look up, knowing that if she looked into the mirror she would be staring at you. After getting no response, you couldn't help but try and persuade her into talking.
"It's fine ah... what should I call you?" you ask.
"Alice, my real name is Alice," she mumbles. You smile softly, not caring if she couldn't see it but hear it in your voice instead.
"Alice is a pretty name too." She sighs and rests her cheek in the palm of her hand as she finally gives in and looks into the mirror.
"It is, isn't it? It's a shame that I'm not the same as Rosie, I don't have a pretty face to go with such a name." With this single comment, many things became clear to you.
"So, do you want to tell me about your past?" you ask, "It's not like I'm going to be around forever, you might as well tell someone before you become (Y/n) (L/n) for good," you joke. She didn't hesitate to nod her head.
"That would be nice, it feels like forever since anyone wanted to listen to anything I had to say," she sighs. You tone down the happiness in your tone.
"I'm all ears, tell me whatever you want." It was her time to smile now. She got out of her chair and looked into the mirror as she spoke.
"Fine, but we're going for a little walk."
Somewhere in the forest
"We can confirm that Edward is no longer int he castle," Merlin announces, letting the other sins know. They all nod, turning their heads in the direction of the castle.
"When do we strike?" Ava asks, obviously pumped up with this new chance of saving her mother and bringing her family back together. She felt guilty about what she had said back at the Boar hat and was honestly surprised by the way her father reacted to it. She expected him to agree and turn his back but it was as if his own life depended on it, he needed her back in his life. He had said something to her on the way here.
"I will never turn my back on her, I promised myself that I would never leave her again. I pledge my eternal life to her and I plan on spending every second with her, I'd rather die than have her gone."
She struggled to hold back tears after his declaration of love to her mother. Now that she thought about it, she felt the same way. Life was never going to be the same without her.
"We'll be leaving shortly," Meliodas informs the group.
"All we need is for it to get a little bit darker so we can slip into the castle unnoticed. The holy knights gave us permission this time but said we have to keep it on the down low. We will only face the mage and Edward if worst comes to worst but we have to avoid that outcome if we can, got it?" The others all nod and begin making their way towards the castle. This was there last chance to save (Y/n) and if they couldn't get her now then they may never see her again.
