"This may sound like an odd question, but are you a Cyberlife android?" Connor asked, trying to get Charlie's mind off of Hank's disappearance and distract him from his own guilt and self-blame. The android in question shook his head, stuffing his hands in the pockets of his jeans."No. I was finished in September...it took quite a few years for me to be programmed and designed successfully. Mother won't tell me why, though. The last time I brought it up, she seemed angry then became oddly silent." He kept his gaze to the snow-covered ground beneath his feet, his eyes flickering to Markus every so often; looking away abruptly before being caught.
Markus opened his mouth to speak, before a buzzing sound interrupted him.
"Hold on, Kara's calling me." Markus stopped; sounding slightly incredulous as he pulled what seemed to be a cellphone out of his pocket. Charlie and Connor watched, all three of them standing outside of Hank's house.
"Hey. Everything alright?"
There was a pause before Markus went slack-jawed, nearly dropping the phone as he fumbled to place it back by his ear.
"Oh m—is everyone alright?! No one's hurt?" His questions sent a wave of dread through both Connor and Charlie, the latter tensing up completely. He had an idea of what happened.
"W-We'll be there soon." With that, he hung up the phone, turning to the others, his eyes nearly bulging out of his head.
"The Ripper broke in and attacked them. Luther fought him off but he managed to escape before he could be restrained. They're alright, but we need to go there now."

The moment that the car pulled up outside the mansion, the trio hopped out, slamming the doors shut behind them. Charlie was the fastest, bolting inside the house and into the foyer so fast he became a blur.
Kara, Alice, and Luther were in the living room, all huddled together; still in shock due to the previous events.
When Charlie entered, Connor and Markus trailing behind him; Alice ran out of the circle and towards Charlie, wrapping her arms around his waist.
He stood still for a moment, before dropping to his knees and wrapping his arms around the child in return, making sure that he was careful while maintaining a tight grip on her.
The way he held her revealed something about him. He had dealt with kids before, in the past, yet it seemed as though he didn't remember it. As though it wasn't his original purpose. But it showed a certain protectiveness that he held for the people he cared about.
Markus' suspicions that Charlie was more than he seemed were only being proven more.
The room was silent, besides Alice's faint hiccups as she cried into Charlie's shoulder. As much as a family Kara and Luther were to her, it seemed as though she was starting to perceive him that way. Like she knew something no one else did.
She trusted him.
