K.C woke up in what seemed like an eternity. Her head felt heavy with drowsiness, as she looked at the window. It was still dawn outside and everything was shaded in a dark blue. It felt like ages since she had fallen asleep and when she checked her phone, it read 5:55 a.m in bright white. So she had slept the whole day...
K.C wasn't sure it was the lack of sleep or the fact that Caspar was still in her mind but she somehow found herself walking down stairs on such a quiet early morning. The blonde honestly never willingly woke up this early in her life, and now she was sitting on one of the stools in the kitchen in complete daze.
"You're up pretty early." Came a voice that made the girl jump from her seat in surprise.
She turned around to find Gray sitting on one of the arm chairs, a surf board on the table. "Oh god you freaking scared me." She scolded as she held her hand to her chest.
Gray laughed. " Haha My bad. You just seemed so out of it, I'm surprised you didn't notice me."
K.C let out a deep breath. "Yah, I couldn't go back to sleep." The girl pointed to the surf board layed out on the table. "Just come back from the beach?"
"Nah, I'm heading out soon. There's usually nobody out this early so it's a great time to go." Gray shrugged.
"How do you even manage to get up this early?" K.C laughed.
"You get used to it eventually. Plus it helps wake you up when you have to work in the morning." The brunet smiled.
"Who watches Nina?"
"Caspar usually hangs out and Nina is still asleep around this time so I'm always back when they wake up."
K.C nodded. "That's quite the routine."
Gray chuckled lightly to himself. "Yah, but it's the little things yah know?'
The blonde smiled back. "Yah. I get it."
After sometime Gray eventually waxed his board and went downtown towards the beach, leaving K.C alone in the house. Board with the silence, the girl checked her phone. It seemed like ages since she talked to anyone back home or even visited the university. Looking back, it was so odd that she had flown all the way to another continent to go to a university but ended up living in a beach house on a cliff, helping some blond guy that ran into her weeks ago. The whole concept made her laugh. What her dad say to her if he knew she was missing classes or knew about this whole situation? Probably buy the first plane ticket for her to come home. If she told any of her friends they would either laugh or be completely speechless.
The girl checked her message box to reveal 5 messages form her dad, one from Emily, one from Brianna, one from Trent, 3 messages from Laura, and a few others from other relatives and friends. Looking at Laura's messages made her stomach sick with guilt. She realized the last time she saw Laura was back when they had went to the club together. K.C bit her lip, feeling the guilt eat at her as she remembered how she had not only dragged the girl into going out but also lied to her, got drunk, amd left... or kidnapped. Just thinking about the petite girl worrying about her made her heart sink even more. K.C hesitated before opening Laura's messages as she read them silently.
[K.C, it is exactly 7:00 a.m. Class will start soon and if you're sleeping in you will regret not eating breakfast. Did you drink too much?]
[K.C this is URGENT. Class is already 15 mins in! You're missing an important lecture! Where are you?]
[ K.C where are you?! I'm really worried I ran into Caspar and he said he never saw you back at the club. Why did you lie to me, if you're angry with me I'm really sorry. Please answer back so I know you're safe....]
