Izel
Later on that night, after me and August ate and cleaned up, I was so exhausted. I couldn't stop thinking of the funeral this weekend and Lea. Lea's been on my mind heavily and I pray and hope that Zane can be strong enough for her.
"What's wrong?" August asked me.
"Nothing's wrong." I got up under my blankets and wrapped my arms around his bare chest.
"Somethin' wrong cus' you makin' dat face." He sat up.
I looked at him and sighed. "I'm worried about Zane and Lea."
"Fo what?"
I gave him the meanest look and I swear I almost cussed him out.
"Did you forget that his soon-to-be-wife passed away not too long ago? You can obviously tell he doesn't know what to do with life as of right now, and I can tell he's trying so hard to be there for Lea but he wants to give up, August. He's hurting and that hurt is eating him up on the inside."
"Alright calm down, I ain't mean it in a rude way." He looked at me. "But trust me, I know how Zane is. He's not gon' let nothin' get in the way of his daughta', and he's gon' make sure they both safe. Plus, when we talked earlier, he seemed pretty fine." He shrugged.
I shook my head and laid back down.

The next morning, I had woke up extra early so I can go for a jog. I didn't tell August, but my tracker is on his phone so he'd know where I'm at. I wouldn't be surprised if Travis had it as well.I turned up my music to the max volume and started off slow first.
Nothing bad happens in this neighborhood so that's why I felt so safe going by myself, plus other people jogged around here all the time or walked their dogs.
Twenty minutes into it, my phone starts to ring and I know it's nobody but August.
"Hello?" I answered through my headset.
"Where yo' ass at?" His voice got high causing me to laugh.
"I'm jogging. I'm not far from the apartments though."
"You real hardheaded." He kissed his teeth. "What you joggin' fa'? You skinny enough."
"Because I didn't want to stay in the house all morning. Plus, I need to know this neighborhood."
"Man.. Hurry up and get back home. I don't like it when you out by yourself."
"Yes daddy." I giggled.
"Keep callin' me that and you might end up wit' another child in you."
"Bye boy." I laughed before hanging up on him.
I tried to turn my music back on but the app wasn't opening for some reason. My phone has been doing that for the past week.
Right when the app opened, I felt a hard force come against me causing me to fall.
"Fuck." I hissed in pain. I had fell on my funny bone and my elbow was scrapped.
"My fault, I didn't see you." The man said. "You okay?" He asked after holding his hand out.
"I'm fine." I got up by myself and dusted off.
"You look hurt... pretty badly. Can I get you a bandaid?"
"No, I said I'm fine." I was about to start jogging again until he blocked me.
"Just stay here." He chuckled while before going to his car.
I shook my head and started to look for my pepper spray through my fanny pack. I took it out and held it behind my back while watching him.
He came back with a box and when he opened it, there was different size bandages.
"Why are you forcing me to take a bandaid?"
"It's not really about the bandaid." He flashed his pretty white smile. "Just wanted to look at you longer." He spoke before tearing the bandaid open with his teeth.
"Cute. My boyfriend said the same thing when we first met." I smiled.
He gave me a devious smile while wrapping the bandaid on my elbow.
He started to make me feel uncomfortable so I backed up.
"I'll see you around." He licked his lips.
I didn't even bother to respond, I just walked away from him.He gave me weird vibes and he lucky I didn't pepper spray him at the last minute.

ZaneRight now, me and Lea were at home making some stuff she saw on youtube I think, deep fried snickers.
It was my favorite candy so I was all in for it, plus I don't like when she upset.
"Now dip it in the batter so we can coat it." I gave her the snickers on a stick so she could dip it.
She did as told and put it on the plate next to her. She grabbed the second one and did the same thing.
My phone started to ring and Brittney picture popped up. I frowned and watched it ring.
"Who is it daddy?"
The ringer went off and the phone screen went black, indicating the person hung up.
"It was nobody baby." I shook my head.
When we finished, I let her sit in the living room and let her eat them both because I wasn't even in the mood to eat anything because the drink in my hand was filling me up just fine.
I sat in the backyard looking at pictures of me and Brittney and started to become angry.
This was all my fault. She got stomped to death because of some shit I was in. The niggas had beef with me, and I should've tried harder to help her.
I took another sip from the bottle and continued to look through the pictures.
If I never would've started selling drugs in the first place, none of this shit would have happened.
I threw my phone at the window and took more sips from the bottle.
Once the bottle became empty, I threw it as well and started to get more angry.
"Daddy? What was that?" I heard Lea.
"Go back in the house Lea." I sat back down.
"But I heard-.."
"Now!" I yelled.
I heard her sniffing and knew she was crying. I heard the door close and put my head in my hands.
