Izel

The next day, I had decided to go talk with Zane since he was the only one here while August and his family were out of town.

I didn't plan on telling August until he came back because he'd rush down here a day early, and I want him to focus on his family.

I rung the doorbell and he instantly opened the door. He was sweaty and shirtless.

"Whenever I tell you that I'm coming over, you gotta cover that nastiness up." I giggled.

"I can't show off? Damn." He tried to give me a hug but I dodged it.

"You're sweaty Zane." I laughed some more before walking inside. "Why it's so quiet? Where's my niece?"

"She's at school idiot. What you want?" He asked before drinking some water.

I looked around and saw all his equipment out. He must've been working out.

"I uhm, I ran into someone last night." I sat at the island.

"Who?"

"Darrin.." I played with my fingers. "He's not done." I looked up at him.

"Where'd you see him at? He do anything to you?" He started to scan my body.

"N-no, and I was out with some friends." I sighed.

"Izel don't lie to me. He hurt you?"

I stayed quiet until I heard him sigh.

"August must not know?"

"He doesn't. I don't want him to know until he gets back, please don't tell him." I spoke. "I'm just worried about you and Lea.."

"Don't worry about us. When Aug and Trav land back in New Orleans, we'll handle this-.."

"Nuh-uh, you are going to stay right here, in this big ass, spacey house, with Lea, and you're not going to let her leave your sight. You let August and Travis handle that shit, because I don't want Lea to lose her father over something stupid as well." I tried to hold back my tears. "Promise me Zane, you're not going to get involved in that mess."

He looked at me for a few seconds before shaking his head.

"I can't promise you anything Izel. He got my Brittney killed, and now all I can think about is her screaming out for some help. I want that nigga dead, and I swear I'll kill him with my bare hands when I get the chance."

I shook my head and grabbed my purse. I wiped my tears and walked out the house.

When I got back home, I went straight to my laptop so I could log in through Instagram.

August was on FaceTime with me and he hated to be on pause.

"I should wear this shirt to sleep?" He slid in the camera with his plain black tee.

"No, you slobber when you sleep, and it's going to stain your shirt because you sleep wild. Just go to sleep shirtless."

"Nah, cus Cha got it freezing in this damn house!" He yelled loud enough for her to hear.

I typed in Reggie's instagram and it showed that I'm block, but his profile picture was changed.

"I can't believe this." I shook my head.

"Believe what?" August asked.

"Oh, uhm, it's just stuff I'm looking at on the news." I lied.

"What you been up to? I ain't hear from ya' yesterday night."

"I'm sorry, I was really tired." I scratched my arm. "Your nieces were excited to see you?" I closed my laptop and gave him all of my attention.

"Man, nah. They was only excited to see mama." He shook his head. "I miss you though, and so does Mr.Cl-.."

"Stop." I giggled. "I miss you more. Y'all come back tomorrow morning?"

"Yes ma'am." He spoke while putting on his night clothes.

"Okay... I have to talk to you about something." I sat up. "Promise you'll stay calm."

"Don't tell me that cus then I won't stay calm. What happened?"

"I lied to you... I went out with my modeling crew yesterday night to that new club opening-.."

"Afta' I told yo' ass not ta' go?" He furrowed his eyebrows.

"Everything was fine August. Nothing bad happened, Jay watched out for me the whole night, but I seen Darrin."

"At the club last night?" I seen him sit up. "What he do ta' you? Don't front wit' me eitha'."

"He just wants y'all to know that he's back, but baby, plea-.."

"He didn't touch you?"

"No August, why does everyone think he touched me?" I spoke up.

"Cus he did it befo'. Shit, he even wanted you dead at one point Izel. Why is you just now telling me all this?"

"Because I didn't want you to worry about me. You're always focused on me, and I-.."

"It's different when you in danger." He spoke over me. "I'll see you in the morning." He said before hanging up.

I sighed and locked my phone. There was a knock at the door and I was confused because don't nobody knock on this door after ten o'clock.

I looked through the peephole and seen the jogger boy again.

"What's it going to take for you to leave me alone?" I opened the door.

"Probably a date." He smirked. "Maybe a booty call." He shrugged. "But really, I just came by to see if you got any sugar." He smiled.

"What do you need sugar for at this time of night?" I looked him up and down.

"That means yes, you do got sugar." He walked pass me with his bowl of strawberries and went straight to my kitchen. "Excuse you!" I slammed the door and followed him.

"Just chill out, untwist your nipples for a little." He spoke while pouring the sugar in his bowl. "This my late night snack" He grinned.

"Yea? Well you and your late night snack can get out-.." He cut me off by shoving a strawberry in my mouth.

"I'll see you around strawberry cheeks." He laughed while walking out.
