A/N~ So like I said before, this chapter will be in Callum's POV. I don't know how often I will have chapters in his POV but not alot if I can help it. I don't really like when stories constantly switch POV's especially within the same chapter. Hopefully you'll never see me do that and if you do it'll only be like twice. I don't know, I just really don't like it.
This chapter is dedicated to KatieMorris5! She always comments and leaves votes and I really appreciate the support :D
Chapter Two
~Callum~
"Please just call her in and give her a chance."
Sighing, I continued looking through the girl's resumé. "Connor, she hasn't even attended a community college. She isn't considered a qualifying applicant."
I know we are business partners and have a decent friendship, but this isn't something I'm willing to agree with. Wolven Industries has always been the most profound business. We have prided ourselves with amazingly skilled workers with high credentials and that's how we are on top. I only tolerate the best in my company. Just because Connor is willing to hand out jobs to those in need doesn't mean I am.
"All I'm asking is for you to talk to her. It won't hurt to call her in for an interview!"
Sitting back in my office chair, I pinched the bridge of my nose in irritation. "Fine," I consented. "I will give her the interview. But I'm not promising her a job." I wanted to make that perfectly clear to him. I'm not going to hire and pay an inadequate worker.
I heard Connor give a breath of relief. "She'll get the job. I know she will," he said confidently. "She has the best work ethic I've ever seen in a person."
"Don't get your hopes up," I muttered to myself, slightly hoping he hadn't heard.
After ending the call with Connor O'Connely, I pressed the speaker for my current PA. "Marie, please contact Adalyn Sumpter for an interview during one of my open appointment times." I stood from my leather, desk chair after Marie's affirmation and sulked to the giant window that overtook the entire east wall.
I had been very stressed lately. With Celia's constant badgering and Marie's transfer to my other building, it's been a major headache. Now I could add that last phone call to the pile.
It was probably no secret among my fellow Wolves that I wasn't just stressing out about work. It was also my mate, or lack there of. I'm twenty-seven years old and mateless. Twenty-seven years old and nothing to live for. I have this company, this kingdom, but no queen to share it with.
That was definitely unusual for a Werewolf. We usually found our other halves before we reach twenty, early twenties if not that. That was obviously not the case with me and it used to anger me, but now I am more sad than anything. It made me fear that I would never even meet mine. It made me think she could already be dead.
"Sir, Celia is here to see you." Marie's voice echoed in the quiet room.
Moving darkly towards the speaker I muttered, "She can come through."
A few minutes later and my girlfriend's blonde head poked through the open crack of the door. She smiled at me brightly as she walked into the room fully, closing the door behind her. "I brought lunch. I thought we could eat together," she smiled.
Nodding my assent, I gestured for her to sit and reclined in my chair.
"I don't understand why your PA has to buzz me in like that," Celia muttered in irritation. "I'm your girlfriend. I should be able to just walk in."
Not wanting to let it slip that I specifically told Marie not to let her in without telling me, I shrugged silently. "Marie likes to be professional and likes to run everything by me. She's a good worker."
Celia snorted and rolled her eyes in response. "How was today?"
"The usual," I spoke blandly.
"Any luck on a new PA?"
I shook my head in aggravation. I didn't want to hurt her feelings but I didn't want to talk. I'm not in the mood to even be around her right now.
"Why are you so upset," she questioned softly.
"Just a bad day," I shrugged. "I have to deal with Marie transferring and hiring a new assistant that probably can't even be half the worker she was."
It was true. I came to that conclusion right when I heard that Marie had discovered her mate in Texas. In order to be closer to him, she asked for a transfer to another building. And I knew then, that I would never be able to find a PA like her. She had been working with me since I started this company. Marie knew how everything ran perfectly.
And now she was leaving.
Celia placed a hand on one of my clenched fists, in a placating gesture. Out of reflex, I jerked back harshly.
I saw the hurt shine in her green eyes before she stood silently. Throwing away her trash, she said softy, "I'll call you later." And then she was gone.
I felt guilty that I had that reaction, but I couldn't help it. My Wolf and I were both in agreeance that we wanted our mate, and only our mate. I did care for Celia, I truly did. She had been my best friend in college. But after two years of dating, we were drifting apart and she knew that.
I have no idea how she can act all happy in our relationship. Like me, she has yet to find her mate.
She's brought up moving in together on many occasions and has even been so bold to talk about marriage. She seems content with me.
But I'm not content with her.
A/N~ So tell me what you think of our lovely Callum :) isn't he all brooding and upset haha
