A/N~ Hey guys!!!! Got another chapter for ya'! hope you enjoy :)
I know some of you are readers of my other story, Darkness Enthralled. I haven't quit the story or gave up on it but it was seriously consuming all of my time and people actually started requesting for this one more than DE. I don't mean to make those fans mad or irritated as if I've forgot about them but I need to take a break from that story for right now. I'm in the mood for this one but I will get back to Darkness Enthralled :)
This chapter is dedicated to MLIAfan!
Chapter Seven
~Adalyn~
Walking into work the next morning, I felt much better and refreshed. I was hoping that today Callum wouldn't pull any of the random stunts he did yesterday. It was too much for me and I couldn't handle it.
Today I was finally given a key card so that the security guard didn't have to ride up the elevator with me. It felt weird having a chaperone and I didn't really enjoy the awkward air all the way up to the eighty-fifth floor.
Once at my desk I began getting settled and working on paper work right away. I wanted to appear busy so Callum wouldn't feel the need to start conversation. After the other day, I was done with conversing. All in one day, he changed his look from a respectable and refined CEO to an unprofessional and borderline sexual harasser. Maybe that was pushing it too far but he crossed a line when he tried to hold me close like that.
But it's a new day now and I'm trying not to think too much on it. Hopefully after witnessing my reaction he'll know never to do that again.
To prevent us having to spend more time together than we needed to, I actually packed my own lunch. I didn't want him to drag me out to some food place. I was content to be by myself and with my thoughts.
"Good morning, Adalyn." Callum smiled at me happily.
Reminding myself that it was a new day and to let things go, I grinned back. "Good morning Callum." Though it went against everything in me to call him by his first name, I had to show respect. He had asked me to call him that and I would no matter how unprofessional it seemed.
It was the right thing to do too because his smile broadened as I said his name. After telling me that he would be in his office if I needed anything, I was finally left to do my work.
I was on a role today. I was getting things done left and right. It was definitely a good day.
I was sitting at my desk eating a sandwich I had made when Callum came out of his office. He saw my lunch pack and instantly I saw his features fall. I felt like I hurt his feelings and I immediately regretted packing food. I thought he wouldn't even bat an eyelash.
"Sir, are you okay?"
Callum seemed to snap back to reality as he changed expressions. "Yeah, you do know we have a break room, right?" He gave me a teasing look.
Coming to a stand quickly I gathered my lunch while my cheeks heated slightly. "I'm sorry! I didn't even think about that. I just thought I could eat and get work done."
He quickly moved to my side and placed a hand on my own. "I was just kidding with you. You're allowed to eat in here," he said seriously. "You're allowed to do anything you want."
Again, I felt my heart skip a beat at his last sentence. It wasn't what he said, but how he said them with such a caring tone. Still, I let my hand ease out from under his slowly.
Feeling my blush go away, I placed my things down again while chuckling nervously, "Oh."
Before I started typing again he snagged my attention once more. "Is it alright if you come eat in my office, or if I join you out here?" He must of saw the excuse in my eyes because he raced out, "There was something I forgot to mention during the interview that I would like to make clear."
