Chapter Thirteen~
~Adalyn~
I sat in the passenger seat silently as I watched trees pass by. We were currently driving back to his place.
Besides our little tiff, I had an amazing time with Callum and his family. They really are great people. I was a little skeptical and extremely nervous to the point that I felt nauseous when it came to meeting new people. Typically what would happen is I would meet the people and be immediately reassured that my fears were pointless.
I think that's what I love about them most though; their attitude. Even while they do have a reason to be cocky and arrogant, they are anything but that. I had a better time with them than I did my own family.
They were very humorous as well. Their expressions when I got my plate of food was hilarious. My paper plate was literally a mountain of different kinds of meat, mostly steak. I practically got no vegetables. Lynn thought I was grabbing for Callum but when she realized the plate was for me, she blanched. Callum was happy seeing me eat that much though.
I perked up in my seat when we finally turned into a parking lot next to an exceedingly tall building. Callum drove straight to the back where he drove down into the underground parking garage.
After parking and grabbing my bags, we found ourselves in the elevator where he pressed the button for the top floor and put in a security code. "Why do you need that?"
Callum smiled gently at me. "I'm the only one on the top floor. I don't want just anybody to be able to enter my penthouse."
"Oh," I whispered.
When the elevator doors slid open, it was to a small hallway where there was a set of dark, wooden doors. Opening those doors, we were now standing in a foyer.
"Let me show you your room so you can sleep," he directed me to follow him.
"I'm not sleeping with you?" I smirked at him when he froze.
"Do you want to?"
"Do you want me to?" My smirk fell away as our eyes connected intensely.
"My room is this way." Callum turned away and continued through the hall. We passed the living room and an archway that I believe led to the kitchen. As we proceeded further into the penthouse, we passed many doors and it made me wonder how many spare bedrooms did he have.
"Do you live here by yourself?"
"The only person I would allow to live here with me is you," he turned to grin at me briefly but otherwise stayed walking.
"Well, this is awfully big for just one person. What's the mortgage here anyway?"
"I own it." This time he smirked as we enter the last room. I knew it was the master bedroom just by looking at the closed doors. It was another set of dark, wooden doors. "And before you ask, I own the entire building."
Figures. Why am I even surprised? He obviously has enough money for it so why wouldn't he own the entire building?
Just like everything else he owned, his bedroom was loaded with dark and elegant decor. If it wasn't black or a deep gray, it was a shiny platinum.
"You don't really like bright colors, do you?" I helped set my bags to the side.
"I like the darker style."
