"PREGNANT?!" she yells.
Yato and I exchange a look of embarrassment and nervousness.
"Yeah," he tells Kofuku shyly.
She flips her pink curls and stares at us in shock as she wipes the tea off her mouth. She doesn't seem to care about the mess she just made over herself and the table cloth. The only thing she's concerned about is us and the baby.
"You realize when it's born, it will be a demigod right? Regardless of the fact that Yatty is a minor god," she explains.
I nod slowly.
"We're aware, but that doesn't change the fact we wanted a baby," Yato steps in.
Bishamon doesn't seem affected at all. After all, she was the only one who knew our intentions before we went through with the plan. And Yukine will eventually learn to adjust.
I look at Yato's gentle expression as he discusses the topic with the other gods. I sit there averting my gaze and attention from his conversation and admire the scenery in the yard. The flowers are all in bloom and bursting with life and color. The sky is a bright blue which fades in and out of sight from the large translucent clouds.
Now that I see it, I never took the time to really look at anything around me without my attention being focused on something else. But spring is bursting with vivacity and it's a mesmerizing sight to behold like this.
I'm so distracted with my surroundings I don't hear my name being called several times.
"Hiyori? Hiyori! Hiyori Iki!"
"Huh! Oh sorry I spaced out," I apologize getting back to them.
Kofuku purses her lips and then ignores my daydreaming. Bishamon rolls her eyes and averts her gaze while tuned in listening to us.
"How do you take the whole demigod thing?" She asks me.
I never actually had a well thought out reply to them. I was just contemplating whether or not I should add my opinion or change the subject. But now that they mention it, I find myself finally taking a side in the matter.
"Well, it's different, I will say. But it's an experience nonetheless and I'll be there for it and care of it, demigod or not. As the baby's mother, it's my choice on what I'd want to do. It will be a bumpy road but we're going to raise this baby together and give it a family. If it ends up possessing will and strength only found in gods, so be it. So I take it in stride with confidence and unconditional love towards it."
I finish crossing my arms over my chest and away from my expanding abdomen. The group looks at me and Bishamon smirks over at me and crosses her arms as well. Her hair falls gently down as she looks at me.
"You have my support Hiyori. Not just for them, but for you and that baby," Bishamon tells me with a relieved sigh.
It makes me happy to hear that. She knew when I was engaged what we were eventually going to do. And she supported and helped me through it all. I'm really lucky to know someone like her. She's not just a god of war, she's a best friend to me and I'd say will be like an aunt to our child.
I smile and face everyone else to see their reactions. I take notice how Kazuma and Bishamon's other regalia don't speak up since she's voicing their opinions, but I can't help but feel a little nervous knowing how quiet Daikoku is. Usually, he's either angry at Yato or trying to get Kofuku to settle down or keep the peace with them. But he's not really interested in what we're explaining.
He just seems... distant.
I cock my head to the side to see past Kofuku and look at Daikoku. He just sips his tea calmly and casually. He doesn't seem to want to speak up. And I can't tell if he's angry or irritated.
