My eyes are still closed even though I don't want to sleep. Our wedding was three nights ago. People got drunk, people crashed the wedding reception, and I don't want to remember the part when the bouquet was thrown. Let's just say Yukine got whacked in the head with it and was chased by angry women for a solid hour.
We had to leave him behind for our honeymoon, which we didn't tell him where we were going. He had the angriest expression because we left him, but when he heard he was staying with Kazuma, he was fine again. I don't think he even cared anymore.
Out of all the places in the world, he chose to go to New Zealand. I didn't object since it was somewhere new, but couldn't we go to somewhere like Hawaii? Or even anywhere in America? He claimed there were some ancient shrines in New Zealand, and he wanted to visit them along with all the food stands and restaurants and cafes.
I lay in the hotel bed exhausted. My stomach hurts from drinking that large coffee an hour ago. It was fine at first, but then I just didn't want it anymore. I manage to get up and stretch. I sigh and then feel a strange sensation.
I run and make a beeline to the bathroom, and lean above the toilet. I'm sweating and panting for air, and everything feels dizzy. Was it the sushi I ate last night? Or the coffee overpowered with cream I guzzled?
I stand above the toilet with the urge to puke. I groan and then yawn. The minute I sigh again, I start vomiting the contents of my stomach into the bowl. I cough and have to splash water on my face to make sure I'm even awake. Is this morning sickness?
I wipe my mouth off and drink water to remove the acidic aftertaste burning my tongue. Everything tastes bad now. The tea, the toast, even the almond ice cream. Maybe it will be okay later.
We've been here for two almost three days, and I still haven't figured out how to work the oven. I've been sticking to the stove and toaster, but now I really feel like cooking something. Lunch for one is something new to me, but since Yato is out, I might as well get used to it. I starting eating the left over fries, but once I ate the ketchup, I felt like throwing up again.
I covered my mouth and ran to the toilet again emptying the little food I digested into it. Then, I heard the door open.
"Yori! I'm home!"
His footsteps clink against the wooden floor, and I hear him set down plastic bags.
"Yori!" he calls out.
I almost pass out from dizziness as I sit there on the porcelain floor. I choke on the smell of the air, and lean back over the toilet. He hears it and runs to the bathroom. He leans behind me and pulls my hair aside to let me finish.
I wipe my mouth off and he releases my hair from his gentle grasp. I turn around to face him and he smiles kindly at me. He offers me his hand so I can get back on my feet, and when I stand, I about collapse until he catches me.
"You okay?"
I nod and he helps me sit down. He sits down with me and I fall onto his lap. He smells like the ocean. He's looking away out the window at our ocean viewed scenery. He scans the horizon before his blue eyes flicker down to me.
"What's going on with you?" he asks me. It's unusually quiet. Most likely because it's just the two of us away from Yukine.
I can't think of a proper answer to say, and I don't want to kiss him either after what I just did. Instead, I just throw my arms around his neck and hug him. He looks surprised for a moment before adjusting to the light and love I shared.
"Yori," he whispers. He kisses my forehead and squeezes my hand tightly. I oblige to his gentle actions. Then I remember something. I get up, and wilt away the urge to throw up yet again. This morning sickness is killing me.
Just to be sure, I walk into the side room's closet, and pull out my suitcase. Yato doesn't mind me rummaging through my luggage, so he sits and watches. I find a small bag in there, and take it with me to the bathroom. The inside of it sits awkwardly and blocky in the plastic, and he just assumes watching me lock the door to the bathroom.
I open the cartridge-like box and pull out the contents. On the back are the directions, and I follow accordingly. It's a little embarrassing at first, but then it becomes clear. I stare in shock and surprise at what it reads. I use the whole box for clarification.
Holding the blue stick, I open the door and walk out to face my dazed husband. I don't know how to react, so tears form in my eyes. I have a grin on my face, and I'm betting to think that my face is blushing.
"Look," I tell him.
Yato comes closer examining the item with his perfectly blue eyes. He looks deep at it; lost in thought.
I smile and hug him.
"It's positive."
