It's been almost five months since I felt that I was pregnant. I'm still able to do things and move freely, but with every passing day, Yato places me on house arrest. I shouldn't leave or go anywhere, not that I would because he has the car, but still.
I relax on the couch flipping through any channel with reception. The thunder storm outside rages. I worry for Yato, seeing as he's out on a call with Yukine.
So I'm by myself.
I groan and sit up on the couch. I've having trouble lately with my stomach. Because it keeps growing for our baby, there's less and less room on the bed and couch. And it's really uncomfortable. I can't sit still for more than ten minutes without feeling uncomfortable easily.
I walk to the fridge in the kitchen to find even a trace of food remaining.
I catch a glimpse of a notepad laying on the counter top. My fingers gaze the front before I pick it up and read the contents.
The kanji inside is all scribbled and hardly literate. But I can decipher most of it, as I did teach Yukine years back and continuing.
I turn to the fridge. The ink in the notes don't match Yukine's hand writing.
It's scratched in blue pen. And it's a bullet point list.
I look further into it and see names. At first I'm scared thinking one of my family members created a hit list or worse.
But my nerves are eased when I read a small scratched title adorning the top of the page.
"赤ちゃんの名前" (Names for the baby)
"What is this?" I announce to myself.
I flip through each page and see more scarred kanji carelessly scribbled onto the yellow paper.
This is... Yato's handwriting.
I look through more of his notes, even though it's invasion of privacy, and stare at the words below me.
There's a page for boy names as well as girl names. I feel warmth in my body as I read each sentence.
I instinctively rub my left hand over my now larger stomach, hoping for a sliver of hope to appear. I think to myself that it's probably too early for a kick to happen. But I can't wait until then.
As I think to myself a miracle happens.
I look down to my popping stomach and smile. I swear a tear might've escaped my now watering eyes.
"It-You, kicked."
I smile and run to the phone.
I call Yato's number quickly.
It rings a few times before a loud, "Hello?!" appears.
"Yato guess what!" I shout.
"Hiyori? Why did you call me- HOLY! YUKINE GET THAT THING TO STOP TOUCHING ME IT'S GROSS~!"
I stare off realizing this is an important call.
"Sorry Honey! This is important though!" I relay to him.
"What's going on Yori? I'm kinda b-USY! I TOLD YOU TO GET HIM OFF~!"
I clear my throat and listen in on the conversation.
I hear a 'SHING' noise through the phone and realize he must've summoned Yukine's swords.
I kinda just sit down and listen to what he's doing. It's beyond me to why he left the call open, but it makes good entertainment. Better than what's on TV nowadays.
