(Fun fact: this picture is titled, 'Lionel in the dark')

Life is cruel sometimes. I know this well. What I didn't expect was for what happened to well... happen.

I stepped out of the quiet snowy cabin for a while. It may be August in the mainland, but in the mountains it's always winter. Especially when I'm pissed.

I know she doesn't like when I do it, but I took a hit of the cigarette in my left hand as I leaned against the wood and stone exterior of the house.

My gaze was constantly fixed on the sky as snow fell lightly. I smirked as it grazed my palm. The thing about snow and myself is that it doesn't melt when it touches me. It continues its path like I was never an interference in its way.

I take a drag of the smoke and exhale softly as I face the mountain side. The mountain is peaceful today.

I turn back to the house after my little smoke break, and enter like I normally would, but a tad quieter for Kiraka and the kids.

It's been a week since Kiraka's run-in with the Goddess of War. She says she needed space. She took her maternity leave and decided to actually focus on herself.

Earlier this month when she was supposed to take her leave, she insisted she go to work that day. She said she had this feeling she was needed. Like she was summoned to be at the hospital that day. Call it fate or a destiny, but she went with it. And well, her life became interesting that day.

I suppose her instincts were right if she delivered a pair of twin demigods from the God of Calamity's Shinki wife that same day.

I soon begin to become lost in my own thoughts so I head back inside the cozy cabin.

As I step into the main hallway, I see my second youngest waddling around with his blanket.

"What 'cha doing Tai?"

My son looks up at me with his mother's violet eyes and tiredly blinks.

"Wha?" he answers.

He looks around for a minute before his lavender gaze falls upon the pastel teal blanket clutched in his small fist.

I smile at the toddler and ruffle his hair.

Tai, being the little irritable toddler he is, pouts at the gesture as well as huffing in annoyance.

I chuckle as I pick up my son and ruffle his dark messy hair once more.

"Stop being adorable Taizu,"

I grin as my wife enters the room.

Clinging to her leg is Mika and hiding in her shadow are Lila and Diana as they trail behind their tired mother.

With her free hand, she stretches it against her back. Her other hand is occupied holding Hikari. The baby looks like she's sleeping as she clutches a bottle in her small hands.

I smile once more as she approaches me and plants a small kiss on my cheek.

Her lips linger on the scar on my cheek that descends to my chin and jawline. I feel like she still blames herself for that scar. I hate it when her eyes are glued to it. She shouldn't hold onto the guilt. It's been years since the incident.

Kiraka sighs and turns back.

With another kiss, she leaves the hallways and enters the kitchen.

I watch as Kiraka sets Hikari into the highchair at the table. She then walks to the cabinets and begins shuffling through them looking for something to make for dinner.
