I ran out through the rain to get to Richard's car. Sliding in, warm air from the heater hit me. I smiled and relaxed against the seat. When John came in I'd momentarily forgotten how beat I was.
"How was work?" Richard asked, breaking the comfortable silence as he pulled out of the lot.
"Same as always, Ritchie," I smiled, looking out my window at the rain. I then looked to Richard, who would occasionally glance my way. "Guess who I saw today," I said, watching him.
"Elvis?"
"Close," I giggled, shaking my head.
"Chuck Berry?" He grinned.
"John Lennon."
"Oh.." He glanced at me and then fixed his eyes on the road.
"He's still with Nancy, you know," I sighed. Richard nodded without looking at me. "He's marrying her. You know, I used to fancy him."
Richard smiled a little and gave me a sarcastic "You're joking", before he pulled into my parent's house.
I smacked his arm playfully before I opened the door.
"Hey, Jude?" He said before I had the chance to climb out into the rain.
"Yeah?" I turned to him.
"I love you," He gave a warm smile.
"I love you, too, Ritchie," I leaned over and kissed him gently. I climbed out and ran to the front door, turning to wave goodbye to Ringo.
I was surprised by a pair of half moon eyes watching me from Paul's window. Those eyes didn't below to Paul, though. I knew who's eyes they were. I took in a deep breath, spun around and disappeared inside. My parents were in the living room, talking quickly. We said our goodnights and I went up to my room. I closed my curtains, before changing into a long tee shirt and climbing under the covers.
The last thing I thought before I fell asleep was "Every time I come close to being happy, he comes and tears it to pieces".
-------------------------------------
I woke up to a ticking sound. I furrowed my brows and rubbed the sleep from my eyes as I sat up, swinging my legs off the side of the bed. Where the hell was it coming from. As I came to my senses I realized it was the window that was ticking, probably a bird. I sighed and lazily shuffled over to draw the curtain. It took me a minute to make out the figure that stood below my window in the front lawn, but when I did I groaned. He smiled a waved as I opened my window, leaning out a little. The air was crisp and the sky was still dark.
"John, what are you doing?" I couldn't help but smile at his eager face.
"Lets go for coffee!" He shouted, leaning on the fence.
"What time is it, you loon?" I raised my brows.
He laughed, shaking his head, "Come on!"
"I don't even like coffee."
"Neither do I! Come on!"
"John," I shook my head, a giggle escaping my lips.
"Please?" He asked, sounding slightly defeated.
I raised my brows and smiled a little. Closing my window, I got dressed and dragged a brush through my hair. I took a deep breath, shook my head, and smiled before I made my way down the stairs to meet John. This was gonna be an interesting day.
